Unhappy Poor Z

My friend went into a ditch last night.

Conditions were pretty icey and the turn was 90 degrees. He had it taken to the dealer this morning and I think the repair bill is going to be pretty high. The headlight alone is apparently around $2K and there seems to be some significant damage done to the right front suspension, arms, etc...

He's had it for a while and is pretty carefull at driving it. I guess he under estimated how slippery it really was.

Ice sucks... I did something similar with my old Toyota 4x4 several years back.. I didn't think the corner was that iced and even tho I was going fairly slow once you hit ice there's nothing you can really do except ride it out..

That's what I kept saying! Cars can be replaced/repaired.

He was pretty depressed this morning the poor fella

We both have identical cars so it didn't help when I drove him to breakfast

Headlamp Assys can be had in the states for 650.00 ea ---Xenon----Im not positive that Canadian lites may have a differance. Actually ---From what I see, Hes not bad off, and the work as a whole can be done in your own Garage. Thats just a Fender Bender---Serious

It's at the dealer and apparently this specific Nissan dealer is known to do awesome repairs.

The front right wheel was not moving and was pushed back a few inches as well.

Underestimated the Ice? I mean c'mon even the Z will tell you that its icey outside.

But seriously, I'm glad that he's okay and that the Z isn't too badly bruised. It could've been worse. Just make sure the insurance co. pays for and the shop installs oem Nissan parts, some like to cut corners.

Well at first he was contemplating even going through insurance with the claim or just pay out of pocket (max $4K). Once the employee at the dealer was taking a look at it and said "well listing on a new headlight is around $2K" that's when he knew it was going to be more than he was prepared to spend and decided to make the call to the insurance co.

Are you boycotting insurance E***zzzzy? Isn't it the law to have insurance? If you ever ran someone over they'd sure you for millions and it'd be tough times for you for sure!

Yes --It is the law .

Where is this 2000.00 headlite comeing from ????? Is there a special "Canadian" Lite ???? Iv bought them ----2 can be had for 1200.00.

That was my consern ---Sometimes it is best to pay out of pocket. How honest ur dealer is will be answered by chking out what that lite REALLY costs. IF the dealer rips of the insurance company, they will make a killing with no regards to ur friend that has a $12,000 liability to the insurance company that should be 7000.00 or no liabilty if he does it himself for 4000,00. His rates increase will reflect the 12,000
