350z or s2000?
hey...
here is my story. i sold my e-blue srt4 in june. the reason i sold it was because im getting older and i feel as if its a kids car. plus every time i drove it, it made me wanna get more mods for it and spend lots of money. the car was amazing to drive, pure fun and very fast. i sold it to save up some money and lease something to get me from point A to point B. now i miss having a fun car to drive, and i was looking into the z or s2000. i never drove the s2000 but i've driven a 350z and i liked it a lot. my only problem with the z is that i keep reading about transmission problems on the 6-speed. how true is that?...and the only thing that keeps me from the s2000 is the disgusting look of it when the top is up(my opinion)...i guess my question here is how many of you had the tranny go? and will the 07 come with the same tranny(same issues)? thanks.

The Z and S2k forums are going to be very biased towards they're own car. With that said, Z FTW. The Z had bad tranny's in the early year productions 03/04. The 2007 is going to be different no one is absolutly sure what problems it might have.
BTW this has been discussed countless times.

Both are great sport cars. I've driven both, and they are both nice, just I'm not into drop-tops. You have to rev the S2000 to get action out of car. The Z has power down low, and all the way to redline. Cant go wrong with either.

The S2000 was selected as the most reliable small premium sports car. I'm still struggling whether to go for the Z or the S2000 even though I'm leaning more towards the Z. I've driven both cars HARD and I love the race car feel of the S2000 better. But the Z will blow the S2K out of the water on the top end. There's so many variables to consider:
The S2K is a great little convertible but easy to rip into and I've heard thieves love to rip off the seats. The Z feels a bigger but you gotta pay a pretty penny to get the convertible otherwise its nothing - no t-tops, no targa, no sunroof. The base model Z doesn't come with cruise control so you'll have to look harder for a touring model. I've been searching so far around town and I've found nothing but base models and convertibles. Gonna have to take a damn road trip to find a touring model, so that's why I'm waiting till next month to get the car so I can take a vacation while I'm gone. A mechanic at an authorized Acura garage told me the S2k drinks oil like a vampire drinks blood - a quart and a half of redline synthetic in 1000 miles - no leaks just pure burning.
The S2K is DEFINATELY a lot more fun to drive than the Z. The Z does corner very well in my opinion even though I've heard many people hate the stock tires. I've taken several sharp turns over 100mph in a Z and loved it but the S2K turned like a slot car. The Z would be better for long distance driving and will handle adverse weather conditions better than an S2K. The S2K will slip and slide all over the place even in a drizzle if you're not careful. It's up to you.

i really dont understand why you'd post this in a 350z site. I'm pretty sure anyone who has a Z could've gotten an s2k instead as they are close in price. The conclusion being that if you have a Z you'd rather have a Z than an S2K... DUH
