Whats the 350z mileage reputation?
Ok, So I heard that for beamers and benz the mileage goes up to 60k and then starts having problems... which is horrible... I also heard the lexus is capable of going all the way up to 150-200k miles without having any major problems to it... which is good... For some reason I never heard of anything about Nissan or rather the 350z in particular and i was wondering if anybody would know the information on this one...
With minor maintenance such as shocks, brakes, oil change, and not being beat on too badly and in stock form you could get 150k miles easy. My dad has a 300zx running around 400whp before he built the engine it had over 150k miles, trans lasted a little longer, now has over 200k miles problem free. My mom still has her HS car (280z) with 160k miles stock engine, and trans. Different cars, different engine, but an example of Nissans longevity.
Like most cars, it will be a function of how hard it is driven. If you constantly redlines it, you will have problems much sooner than if you drive normally. From past experience with Nissan, I would think left stock and driven without serious abuse, you should not have any mechanical issues before 100k. Probably still too early to tell, but maybe some folks with 03s came chime in.
Well, my 03 with 75000 miles on it runs like a dream. I've had no major problems with it at all and I beat the crap out of it on a daily basis. Just make sure to keep up on your regular maintenence and it should be fine. Hell, I drive mine in Michigan winters as well without any issues; I know alot of people on here baby their cars and wouldn't think of even driving it in the rain becuase it might effect their stupid resale value. But hey . . . I spent $30000 on a car and I'm going to enjoy every minute of it, every day I have it.
I'm going to drive mine till 100k and then I should have the money to rebuild forged and TT . . . but I wouldn't be suprised if it lasted longer than that.
Have fun with it . . . and DRIVE!

Nissan is like all cars from major Japanese companies; with reasonable maintenance you should get a couple hundred thousand miles.
Major issue is the engine & my impression is the one in the Z is bullett proof but will defer to guys with more knowledge than I.

Overall, you should easily get 200K out of the engine, but one of Nissan's engine ring suppliers has apparently "skimped" on quality, and Nissan didn't catch it until several cars went out with bad rings (oil consumption issues).
I had a VQ30-powered Hardbody that at 100K (and 9 years) looked and worked almost like new (that's back when they had timing belts that needed replacing every 60K or so). The only reason that I sold it was because we needed room for our growing family, and a pickup didn't really "cut it."

Nissans have been reliable for me over the years, and have lasted for a long time. As several people mentioned above, regular maintenance at reasonable intervals is the key to longevity.
I used to drive a '77 280Z. I bought it used when I was in college, and kept it for 12 years. It lasted for 205K before it needed a new engine.
My '89 Pathfinder SE had 143K of trouble-free miles on it when my dad totaled it. It would have easily gone at least another 100K.
My current daily driver, '98 Maxima SE has 100K on it, and it still runs and looks great. I bought this car new and it has never had any problems at all. Aside from regular oil changes at 5K intervals, 2 sets of new tires (at 41K and 73K), service at 60K, brake pads at 83K, and a couple burned out headlight bulbs, this car has never broken down and never needed any repairs.
Although I have only had my '04 350Z Roadster for about 6 months, I do not see why it would not be just as reliable and last as long as the other Nissans that I owned in the past.

My '03 has 34k miles and no problems. I have an '00 Maxma with 234000 miles with no major problems other than the starter and sparkplugs. My '85 30o0 ZXT has 230K miles with no major problems. My brother also had an "82 280zx with 230k miles and no major engine problems. I would not worry witout beating on the car.
