Road noise on braking at 8000 miles?

Road noise on braking at 8000 miles?
I don't know if it is just me or if there is actually an increase in road noise from the front of the car, mostly on braking. It almost sounds like I have nobby tires on or something. I looked and there are no pebbles stuck or anything. I can't really tell any difference when running at constant speed, but when I slow down to a crawl it sounds pretty loud. Anyone else experience? Any ideas on the cause?
