Learning Stick
Here are some threads (two of which are mine) which I think really benefited me when I was learning stick.

1. Practice
2. Memorize
3. Patience
4. Practice
I don't consider myself the best shifter, but I am far better than day one. My shift from 1-2 is the only one that isn't very smooth all the time, but I blame the Z's notchy gear for that

I learned how to drive stick on my 2005 Z. I got 7500 miles now and dont stall anymore (99% of the time). Only time will tell how much abuse I gave to my clutch. The main thing is just dont ride your clutch when you dont need to. I never depress the clutch until the light is green and try never to leave 2nd gear even at stop signs. As all my friends told me 2nd gear is your best friend.
Time is all it takes.
In my S2000 I went to the last meet in tx and stalled when I was trying to leave and then took off really jerky.
Just like others have said learn the engagement point and then slowly rev up the engine and release the clutch.
Does the Z have a CDV? I know my S does and I ****ing hate it. Makes you have to hesitate a little when shifting fast or you'll jerk a lot

Hey man,
I just learned stick for the first time (I'm also 17, just bought my '03 Touring); took me a week to learn stick on my Z and get my *** out driving everywhere.
Get pissed off, get in your Z, and don't get out until you get it right.
Here's a bunch of **** that helped my out in my original thread; read through it:

I also PM'ed you another link to something useful.
Good luck man; do it right, but be kind to your Z...
Also, don't let hills intimidate you; start level and work your way up.

Hell I know people who've been driving a stick for decades and they still hate hills. *** it your clutch won't die if you slip it every once in a while.
That and once you get comfortable learn to rev-match so you don't make bad shifts.
Lol and if you ever mis-shift don't freak out just engage the clutch so you don't overrev the engine.
Hardest actually the only hard thing really about driving is taking off smoothly or coming to almost a stop and then having to take back off at like 3mph

The Z is a little tougher to drive compared to some other cars. My gf has a RSX Type-S, it's so freaking easy to drive since the clutch is so short and soft. The Z took me some serious practice to get used to. I had like a week of break in between 2 jobs, I seriously just drove around in my neighborhood for the whole week and became an expert from that. There are slight hill, steep hill and all kinds of turns in my neighborhood. Practice makes perfect.

The first stick car I ever drove was my dads Firebird Formula. 300hp, 320 ft-lbs of tq = lots of rubber patches in the highschool parking lot, lol.
You'll get used to it, just take your time and drive as much as you can.

Hills did do and will continue to suck though
