Insurance Rates in NY?
I know this topic has been discussed before but, what are some insurance rates people are getting, more specifically people living in NY?
I talked to my insurance agent today, and they came back with $6500 a year under commercial insurance (under personal insurance it's even more because I am 21 years old and got an accident on my record). New York insurance has always been expensive but not that high, right now I am paying $2500 a year for my Jeep.
Most likely, I won't be getting the car anymore because I can't afford to pay that kind of insurance...I may just keep my current car or buy another used car, save up the money for the next few years and when I turn 25...get a Z, convertible!
Well, I am going to take to my dealer this weekend and see if they can recommend anyone who they know can provide lower insurance rates, but any suggestions from anyone here would be great.

something is not right here- insurance is not going to be cheap on the 350Z (especially for us guys under 25 in the New York area), but $6500 sounds wrong... perhaps they don't have the 350Z in their system yet, and/or don't know anything about the car, and/or are using the '96TT as a baseline, and/or they just screwed up when they gave you that quote. Or maybe your accident involved killing a few little old ladies...?
Did you try Geico?

Maybe I should try and get a quote once the car comes out that way, I know for sure it will be in Providence Washington's system. But I don't think my age and accident have an effect on the insurance quote because I am getting commercial insurance (no one got hurt in the accident nor did it get listed as my fault).
I am going to wait a little bit before I get another quote from my insurance company and also give some other companies a try.

Just checked with progressive and my rate goes up by just $475 for a total of just $1200 ..
I've a clean record, and hope to keep it that way. All my speeding will be on the track.
I may move to Long Island does anyone know the rates there yet ?

jz350, I am glad that I am not the only one getting a rate at $6500...$2700 is not bad at all, and I think I would get the same rate because we have a similar driving record and we around the same age, what is the number to chubb 7 (never heard of them before)? But I will give them a shot.
