Just curious,

Is the earliest the Z are getting here in Sept now?

Seems like everyone on that list that was generated has, at the earliest, an anticipated Sept delivery date. I remember reading that there were something like 750 Zs built in July slated for August delivery. So if most of those are headed to the US, then something like 10% of all preorders should be received in August. But I havent seen anyone, lately, say they expected this. What's the scoop?

Just curious since I haven't talked to NNA... what they said if you have?

NNA (and my dealer) have been pretty mum on confirmed delivery dates. Some dealerships are throwing around dates that have absolutely no basis, so if you're being told August, don't get too disappointed if it becomes September. Also, don't get too caught up in the hype that periodically infects this web site. It makes for great discussion, but sometimes we have to filter out the real world from the Matrix. (know what I mean, Neo?)

Thus far, the computer shows July build, September delivery. Until the computer spits out a piece of paper that says otherwise, I'm not going to get my hopes up for it being here any sooner.

I'd rather wait an extra week or two and have it built RIGHT...

 

My dealer advised the following, which seems to make some sense:

The one "R" order they have was originally acknowledged as an August delivery. Later, it changed on the distribution report to a September delivery.

We also heard some info about a month ago that there was a production delay, of 20-30 days.

I think all R's were originally slated for August. Now, either all or some of these R's have been moved to September. If the letter designations did at one time mean different del'y months, then the delay could have caused the R and S's to now be identical.

 

I have asked a number of times if I was still scheduled for August delivery and the reply has been consistantly YES!
The end of August the first week of Sept? What's the big deal, right.

 

I've been told august pretty consistently, but my fingers are crossed. Since we are pretty sure that some people will get their cars in August, the big question is: Will each dealer get their first 1 or 2 cars in august, OR will the first cars be based strictly on order date?? (so that say a dealer who didn't send his orders in 'till april won't get any cars until say september, while a dealer who faxed 10 orders in in January would get all 10 cars in august)

Can anyone answer this question?? That would help out alot!!

 

Well, I have been told the "last week of august or first week of september" by my dealer. In addition, I got a phone call at work today from "NNA 350Z specialist" (whatever that means) telling me that "your car is one of the first in your area and that it should be there barring unforeseen delay by the end of aug."

So in total, I am excited and just would love to get the Z by Sept but Aug would be great

Expanding on my post above:

I think some cars will arrive in August. Not as many as Nissan may have originally planned, but some. I really think the cars that are lucky enough to arrive in August are going to have R order numbers. And from the limited data we have received so far, all R orders are very early-placed orders. It makes sense that these people will get their cars first, since they ordered early.

I think all R orders are going to arrive either before (or in the case of some R orders, same shipment) as S orders. Likewise, some S's with T's. It would be wonderful if S orders arrive in August, because that could mean that T orders might move from October to September!

The whole reason I have spent the time compiling the charts with the information you all have provided, was not (as some might think) to be able to complain to Nissan about this or that, but so that all of us may have a better idea about when we are getting our cars, so we are not dissappointed.

CaneZMD: I show you ordered 2/13/02. I don't have an order number reported for you, so we don't know if you got an R or an S. The latest R order we have heard of so far was ordered on 2/9/02. Your packet number is fairly high based on when you ordered, but we have already seen that while packet numbers don't exactly coincide with order dates, there is a pattern. I do hope you get your car in August. I love that your dealer is fairly confident of this. I just hope he is correct. Not only would it be good for you, but it would be good for all those who ordered after you, because it may mean we get our cars sooner than what some of us have been told!

mbeguy: You ordered 3/16/02, and received an S order. And a real low S number, if that means anything. Of the 38 orders with S numbers, your's is one of the lowest (same number as the lowest in fact - he just ordered a month before you)! I also hope you get your car in August! I ordered only 2 weeks after you, and maybe that would mean that my car could be an August, or an early September. That would be great!

We may all get our cars the same week - who really knows. Alls we can do, until someone with some level of credibility tells us otherwise, is do what we are doing. Share what we are being told. Review what we are being told. Try to reach some possible conclusions, but knowing that we are guessing.

And knowing that soon...real soon...we will all have 350Z's.

 

I live in San Antonio, TX and ordered my Z on March 3. I have been checking with my dealer over the last three plus weeks re delivery schedules for their pre orders. As discussed on this site, they have been clueless...not really their fault as they have not been getting info from Nissan.

I was fortunate enough to meet the Nissan Rep for our area during the Z Car Convention held in San Antonio recently. He was part of the group that brought a Datona Blue 350Z to San Antonio for a private review by all the pre order folks in the local area. Mr. K. was part of this group and the private showing of the car...he handed out autographed pictures to all the pre order people that were in attendance...I was one. I talked to the Nissan Rep this week and he indicated that my dealer just received order numbers on the pre ordered Zs. I talked to the dealer and at this point he only has order numbers and has been told that his pre order cars go into production in August with delivery in early October. Damn...was hoping for Sept delivery.

 

I ordered mine on 1/2/02, and my packet number is somewhere about 300+. My dealer kept telling me that I will get my car in August, but they don't know the exact date. I was second on the pre-order list at my dealer.

Hey Scaf,

I would love to give you my tracking number, but I don't know how to get it. I talked to my dealer last week, and he said the 3rd to 4th week in august. He didn't have any other info, though. Who do I call to get my tracking number?? (and what is there phone number?)

 

Have you're dealer call the regional office and they can give the number to the dealer who then give it to you. It should be a R, S, or T number. This is the preferred way as per Nissan and ZISME.

Call your dealer again and tell them what you have heard.. Message boards and talking with other people (this is what i did on Tuesda 7/16).. THEY should be able to call Region and get your info in about a day.. IT seems salesmen & dealers just want to deal with sales to make $ NOW.. and delay efforts to help sales that are about 2 mos away..
