Default RSX Owner, 350z Soon...

Hello everyone

Currently I am driving a 2006 RSX Type-S, with minor mods ( cai, struts, short shifter, jdm badging..)
All paid off...

I've been wanting a 350z forever now, and I just currently started making some noticeable money, and really dont want to throw FI on my FWD car, I would much rather spend the money on a Z...

Im thinking maybe a year from now, I could probably sell my car close to its value ( since I maintain my car perfectly, and it will be rare, as they are not made anymore..), and hopefully pick up a lightly to mildly used '06 Z..

What do you guys think the price will be? With the '07 Models lurking around, I hope it wont be too high. I am basically just looking for a Base model, maybe Enthusiast ( the one with an LSD...). Any comments? Suggestions? Tips maybe?

Thanks a ton guys, Im sure I'll be on the forum a lot before I get the car, just like I lurked around ClubRSX for almost a year before I bought my S

Welcome to the forum kaeyo. I'm sure you'll find lots of very useful information, for the homework you're doing before you purchase a zed.

I'm not sure what the used Z price would be a year from now, but If you take care of your car well - and it seems like you do - you would benefit more if you pay the a little extra and buy new. A brand new Z looses its value, on average, about $3k a year, so it's only about $3k more on your loan. Devide that into a 48-month loan plus 10% interest and you would be paying $68.75 extra a month. What is that, like 1.5 tank of gas, 1.5 lap dance? lol. But you get so much more: brand-new engine, tranny, etc.

Welcome!

The Enthusiast model is the "best bang for the buck" model.

I agree with Tenasc1ous. After I bought my Z used, (03), I realized I could have gotten a new Z for like $60-70 more per month (after you figure in warranty, etc.). Oh well. Live and learn, and then buy a Z.

I agree with you guys. To start i wanted to get an 03/04 350z used for low 20's but then i did the math and realized for just a little more i could just get a brand new one.

So +1 for the brand new Z... might as well hold out for the 2007 model.

Are you on clubrsx? I went from an RSX to a Z and it was such a great move for me. I hope all the recent magazine reviews and F&F 3 help keep our resale values up but I'm starting to see 03s sell for 18-19k

Will the '07 be higher priced than the '06?

I really wanted an '06 because I heard most of the problems were solved, and it has a 300hp base model

if i can save enough now, i may buy one end of december, when they still have some '06's left. new.

Where's the graph? At least show him # of 06 models by trim level so he can see that getting a base 06 is going to be very hard to find since all base models are a rare production.

Oh yeah, and to the OP, if you did your homework, you should know that the base has an open diff. Like I said, base models are pretty hard to find, and if you want the diff (VLSD), then an Enthusiast is perfect. They're all over the place.

Problems were solved? LOL Yea they solved the tire problem, but now they have an engine problem. it appears you could recieve an 06 engine that lets out oil like this--

If you are looking for a slightly used '06 Z, you are better off waiting and saving some extra $$ for the '07 model.

You'll benefit from a revised motor with more power and response. It also redlines stock at 7500-7600 RPM. It's still a farcry, but better than my 6600 RPM redline on my '03 ahah.

sold my integra dc5 05 1month ago (wich is RSX in USA), and get a 350Z-track ( seems different to the Z track in US ) with just extra 3000AUD ( 2200USD ??), totally different feeling. but I like both of them.
good luck with Z ^^
my integra-S and my Z

So I've thought about it a little, I might as well go ahead and try to ****** a new '06 this year while they try to get rid of em before the '07...

Do you guys think around December they will be going at a easier haggle rate? Can I expect to get invoice for 350zs? Ive never dealt with a Nissan dealer before. I will continue to try to get a Base model, but if I must I will get an Enthusiast.

Im almost dead set on the Dark Silver / Grey color ( sorry for my ignorance in color names...)
If I absolutely have to, than a black will do

I also traded in an RSX-S (a 2002) for a '06 Z - Got an Enthusiast because I wanted the TCS/LSD and I liked the steering wheel radio controls.

My dealer was trying to get me to buy the black Base they had on the lot but I wouldn't budge on the color or model.

And the dark silver is called "Silverstone".
