My hatch does this too. Now every morning it take two or three tries to pop the hatch, and it doesn't even stay propped up anymore. I'm thinking about adding another penny spacer, but I've heard that three can make a dent in your hatch.

I too was chomped by my hatch, almost a second time. I live in sunny, warm Cali. so I’m not buying the cold weather line. The shocks are weak. Does anyone have a copy of the service bulletin (TSB) for this, if any exists? Or does anyone know of a good after market replacement for the hatch struts? I like the shape of my noggin as is.

I was hanging over the back of my 240sx installing a new fuel pump and got the metal latch to the small of my back about 2 inches from my spine, I’ve yet to experience something more painful other than dislocating my thumb.

It's b/c you are in florida, you car closer to sea level, which puts you closer to the earths core, which mean there is more gravity attracting objects in that area, which makes the hatch weigh more and the shocks can't hold it up. Time to move to denver.

HAHAHHAHAHAHA, just kidding, mine hasn't fallen on me but i do have to pop twice sometimes...i think that is something else though.

I think my Z protested the Fairlady badge when I put it on. Lifted up the hatch, the day I replaced the 350Z badge with the Fairlady, and put my sun visor in the back. came down on my back after leaning in.

The day I installed Nismo v2 wing, amazingly hatch stayed open!

....of course shock failed in about 1 min later. Now everytime I open
my hatch, I lose about .2 lbs from my body.

Q. How can you recognize a Z owner?

A. Look for the guy with the permanent part in his hair.
