My 06 is burning oil. I'm taking it to the dealer in the next couple weeks. I think it has consumed oil from the day I got it. I didn't vote cause I'm not sure of my build date.

I was planning on turbo charging my car when it turned 3000 miles. I'm glad I didn't now. My engine probably would have blown because of whatever problem is causing the consumption and I would have thought it was my fault.

I'm really not looking forward to dealing with the dealer on warranty work.

I broke my car in properly and it was down 2 quarts 1000 miles after my last oil change.

EDIT: ok I just went out and looked. Build date was 12/2005.

Seems that the 6MT REVUP theory is right on... difference in burning rate may be due to agressiveness in driving and frequency of downshifts... tells you where I am...

I 100% agree with that theory. Looks like you are enjoying the car more than most of us. Have you had the engine replaced yet?

I have only had a few 350Z's come up with a code for oil consumption...

If you want to send a VIN number to me Ill be more then happy to check for you, and if local... begin testing!

Jason, can you elaborate on the "code for oil consumption" and it's relation to the VIN? So there are specific VINs that have been identified?

I'm going through the consumption test now. I was done with it until Nissan released this VVT theory so now I'm enduring one more leg of the test.

dbasal, yeah.. I drive pretty spiritedly... always have with every car I've owned and this car is meant to be driven. But, no engine replacement yet and it's sounding more and more like it won't be necessary.. hopefully.

I appologize... I had a customer this weekend with an 06 Z that we are testing for oil consumption... I thought there was an actual bulletin for it... but I just looked on our NISSAN ASSIST machine and did not find any bulletins for oil consumption or any Z for 05 and 06... I may have been looking in the wrong place and did not see so I will re-confirm with a technician tomorrow morning...

Also, I ran a few VIN numbers on 06 Z's and no recall campaings came up...

Question

8 people so far have stated, that their 350Z was BUILT in 10/06. I'd like to know how it was delivered to them from Japan in 1 month or less!
