Default Is my engine stock?

I am just wondering if it is normal to hear a "spool" or "whine" sound when the revs go over 3.5k RPM. the reason why I am unsure is because I bought my 06 350Z (GT coupe, 5AT) used from a dealer, and it already had some minor mods done by the previous owner before I got it (those mods being a window tint, and smoked tail lights / front corners). Another noteworthy fact is that the previous owner definitely went all out on the car, since it is a fully loaded Grand Touring.

Also noteworthy is how this Z definitely felt faster than any of the other Z's I test drove before, yet the engine looks bone stock (stock looking intake, exhaust, and all). So basically could/is my Z possibly modified, or is it just stock?

What is going on with all you guys thinking you have upgraded Z's. Just an FYI if you test drove an 05 Touring model or lower then it would feel slower because that has the 287 engine in it compared to the 06 300HP engine.

Post pics of your engine bay from several angles. also a close pic of your Plenum to see if there is a spacer.

i was going to say, this looks like a carbon copy of that other thread claiming a "whine" with a stock engine. Don't anyone look at the car when they buy it anymore? I know when i got my Z, my salesman walked me through each part of the Z, familiarizing me with the ins and outs of the car, including the engine. But i can say that when i went to go get some work done i sat in a new 2006 and they let me start it up. I noticed a different sound from the engine as compared to my 2004w/popcharger. it could almost sound like a whine and i chalked that up to the new engine

He stated that it was a 5AT. So, he has the 287 HP engine. Perhaps, it's the opposite in that he drove the 300 HP previously and the 287 HP engine feels like it has more low end torque.

you are probably just hearing the intake... the intake on this car is louder then alot of other cars... especially if a higher flow filter is added (K&N or other)...

thats my edjamakated guess...

The whine is from interference from the plug wires in the radio. My car makes the same noise, unless the radio is off (not turned down, off).

Looks like we may have found another EHP motor. that leaves only 10 left. They're like golden tickets. Except you don't win anything.

Obviously you will want to post your time slip here for recognition: https://my350z.com/forum/drag/232657-top-25-1-4-mile-times-twinturbo-single-turbo-on-the-bottle-na-bolt-ons.html.
