Unhappy Got snagged by a speeding ticket in Houston - what should i do??

ok - 75 mph in a 50.

my dad said that if i got a ticket in the z, then he would take the car away from me. I have several options (they dont know yet) i could

1) not tell them and go to court, beg the judge to let me do defensive driving to dismiss the ticket.

2) tell my parents and risk getting the z taken away from me, still go to court and try for defensive driving class with their full knowledge.

right now i am leaning towards option 1. i figure that since i am 18, i can go to court and do everything on my own. the only problem is, i need cash to pay for the fines/court costs/defensive driving. i work a minimum wage job and i have a bank account but i dont know if it would be a good idea to take money out of the bank because my mom looks at my account information. does anyone have any idea how much this would cost me? if it is a reasonable amount then i will take the chance and withdraw some money for it. the only thing i am worrying about is the speed that i was going. 25 mph means that i dont automatically qualify for the defensive driving class, but it depends if the judge will spare me. please tell me what you think of the situation and please be honest as to whether you think the judge will let me off the hook or not.

I feel your pain. I racked up 3 tickets in my old Z. I know how you feel, it would probably be best if you were honest, but I know the fear all too well heh. 25mph for me was roughly 150 dollar ticket, and I did this judication thing which was basically probation. You should have it as an option. You basically put on probation for a few months(whatever the judge deems, the max is 8 months i think). You pay the ticket cost and go on probation for the set time. If you can do that then you prolly shouldnt worry about your parents knowing. Deffensive driving on the other hand would be harder to hide. Anywho good luck with the tickets bro, hang in there!

Go with #1 Dress nice act like your very sorry. If its your first ticket your in good shape, and will most likely get traffic school. DO NOT talk about your parents taking the car away to the judge. Cause he'll just wana teach you a lesson. If he dosent bite you just got to take it like a man, and tell your parents. They cant keep a 30,000$ car in the grage forever. GOOD LUCK!

My first ticket was going 70 in a 55 while traveling from MS to LA (to school). All I had to do was get an court extension, show up at the next available defensive driving class in Louisiana, and mail my ticket and certificate to the proper court in Mississippi. So all I had to pay was the $25 for defensive driving class. Of course, that was Mississippi and that was 2000.

if your parents are involved in any way with the insurance company you can bet they will find out you got that ticket the next time renewal comes up.... that is of course if the judge doesn't let you have traffic school.

You might want to turn your "If you're going to speed, at least don't be a dumb *** about it" signature OFF.

you can't take defensive driving for this ticket.

you can't for anything thats more than 24 mph over the speedlimit.

Hm I was pulled over for supposedly going 62 in a 30(I asked to see his radar gun, and it wasn't on, so I called bs and refused to sign the ticket) I went to court and I got put on probation again.

man... 18 with a new Z, working a minimum wage job... you got it rough, don't ya? dad's gonna take it away if you get a ticket? here's my advice. you're 18. you're driving a near-300hp sports car that you don't pay for. i'm guessing you don't pay the almost certainly sky-high insurance on it, either. suck it up and take it like an adult, instead of figuring out how to sneak it past the people who put you in this position of "responsibility." show the maturity of being in this position instead of trying to get out of it. course, that's just my $.02
