I'm thinking about buying a 2nd car for the commute. Something like a used civic or corolla. I had no idea the 350Z's gas mileage was so bad. I had never taken it on the highway before. Is this normal?
Something is wrong with your car. I get 21 mpg averaging 26 mph.

Did you read the rest of the thread?

Once he measured his mileage, instead of guesstimating, he is actually getting 21.3-26.5 MPG.

Yeah. He said he gets 21.3 mpg averaging around 76 mph. To compare, I get that type of gas mileage doing 26 mph. For averaging 76 mph, those numbers still seem low to me. My car gets 28-29 mpg the rare times where I can average that high a speed.

I consistantly average ~22.5, mixed driving. Longer straight highway drives I get 25-25.5.

I would certainly not consider one 75 mile run t 21.3 out of the ordinary. Combined with the 26.5 on the other leg of his trip, thats 23.9 average MPG, well on the high side of the published EPA estimate of 19-25 for the Z.
