Default my dipstick - how does yours size up?

With all the Rev-up 6mt oil usage concerns, I have been checking mine twice a week. I now have 1516 miles on the odometer and here is a pic of my dipstick with readings. At 1500 miles I took it into the dealership and they said this reading was only about 2 oz and doesn't even need any oil. My real question is when you are on L is that a quart low? How much is it between the L and the H?

It is probably still too early to determine if you have a problem. During the early stages you will have some consumption as the engine is broken in (or at least that is the consesus). Most people are noticing the problems first between 5000 and 7000 miles. That comes after the first oil change. I only noticed mine at 7000 because I read about it here. My first check came at 3000 miles after my first oil change and there was only a dot on the bottom of the dipstick. Needless to say, I check regularly now.

Your oil level is fine. I think you are paranoid.

Good question. Anyone know the proper quart readings on the dip stick markings

It looks fine now, but that wasn't the jest of my post.

I have not had any oil issues. Just stick with the recommended oil grades, oil changes, break-in procedures, and you should be fine. That level looks fine.

Not to go way off topic. I'm in the process of an oil consumption test right now, and I've come to find out that the dip stick really reminds me of a crazy straw.

Anyone remember these things lol?

I remember the crazy straw.

Off topic in my own thread: I was talking to my dealership about oil they use in Nissans and was very surprised when he said the ONLY thing they use is Castrol GTX 5w30. Everything in the shop gets that unless a customer brings it in themselves.

^^ I'm sure that changes from dealer to dealer... But I do my own now, I just don't trust them anymore.

If you're at the L, that means you have lost 1 qt. For now, it appears you are ok, but I would closely watch it. If you are at the L at 3000 miles, there would be reason for concern unless you always run it hard.

That confirms what the dealer said, thanks.

unless you always run it hard.
Is there any other way?

Well, there is some debate on how you break it in. There is a lot of good info on this alternative to the manual method. Some people swear by the Mototune method:

Personally, I just think that the Rev-Up is defective. To me, this is the tire feathering issue for the 06. This is why that even when Nissan replaces the engine, the same problems seems to persist. Hopefully I am wrong, but from everything I have read, I do not believe I am. It would really help if Nissan would come forward and let us know what the problem is.

From H to L it usually means you will need 1 qt of oil. Goes for most cars out there.

I wouldnt worry about it. Your oil level looks pretty good. Just keep an eye on it. You have a powertrain warrenty, and if you notice it getting worse and worse. Take it in. I'd just enjoy the car!

Dude why in the hell are you worrying? Your oil mark is closer to the H than the L, the manual states that the normal mark is the center between the H and L.

I have to agree with everything that is said above. There is nothing wrong with your oil level. To quote the dealer it's normal.
