Default Good age to own a Z

I'm noticing that alot of people here who own Z are still under the age of 18. Some are even 16 driving around Zs. Would you buy your boy/girl teen a car like this? I personally wouldn't. I'm 22 and although I'm responsible enough to take care of my parents and own a home I STILL feel sometimes as If I'm not mature when driving my Z cuz I get excited sometimes and I step on a little. But then again I get reminded real soon (In like .22 seconds) that it took a while to be able to afford this car and maybe it would be a good idea to be extra careful.

It depends on the person as to whether or not they can handle it.

However, regardless of age I'd never buy a kid a car like this. That's something they should earn on their own.

im not gonna lie, this thread just sounds like you're boasting...but whatever

nobody's going to give you a pat on the back if thats what you're looking for, if not more power to ya. Its all about the maturity level of of the person and whether they can completely asess the risks of the situations they put themselves in. If you want to drive 140 on the street and streetrace and you get pulled over, you better not whine about here...you suck it up and pay the price. I for one dont put myself in those situations very often(hence my 1 BS improper passing ticket in 6 years on the road, 4 in my Z) since Ive thoguht about what can happen I dont want to deal with the repercussions. I get my kicks in short spurts at slower speeds usually, most of the other times I drive pretty conservative

If your very mature and drive safetly on the street and keep the need for speed on the tracks then anyone under 18 can drive a Z. It all depends on you and/or your parents... it just all depends on the person.

PS: This threads pretty much useless since everyone has their own bias opinion.

You can generally get an idea of the person driving by what they post on this forum and how they sound.

I don't get it.. why do you need to be "mature" to drive it a Z? If you're immature, regardless of what car you're driving, it's still harmful to the public. I just don't get the whole.. you need to be at "this" age to be eligible to drive the Z. Sounds like me like an old men bs to keep the kids low profile.

you are absolutely correct, it doesnt matter if a kid is driving a POS $1000 civic its still a dangerous weapon in the hands of an immature idiot. just the fact that a Z is an expensive car for a kid and the power can get immature people in trouble(no matter what age)

A kid driving geo tracker though is probably less likely to try and impress his "boys"
and pretend hes in the F&F. "Uh oh i turned the traction control off?, man that brick wall is coming up fast, ****, ****" and then the car and possibly them are F'ed

I'm 23, I drive fast sometimes. Though I know when it's not safe to do so. You have to predict unforseen situations and be able to tell how your car will respond when you push it. Driving fast in snow / icy conditions or rain around curves is a recipe for disaster.

I think that a nice car like a Z or any other number of nice cars should be earned. This is my 4th car and I started with a 1990 Pontiac Sunbird AT 4 cylinder and slowly worked my way up, paying for every car. Because of this I have a huge respect for my vehicle, what it can do, and what not to do in it. Earn what you get and get what you earn.

I got my Z at age 19 but i had expeirence driving Vipers,GTO's, Corvette's, Mustang Cobra's, Porsche's and so on. I learned to respect the cars and to stay within my limits. I don't think there's any certain age but its just whether or not the driver has the skill and respect for the car.

you don't expect 17-18 year olds to chime in saying, you're right, I'm not mature enough for a Z do ya?

Yes I would actually.

You can drive recklessly in a Z.You can drive recklessly in any other car.

17 or 71...maturity depends on the individual.

I didn't have a car until I was 18. I had to wait until I came out of bootcamp before I bought my first car, 1998 Jetta. I have absolutely nothing against individuals, young ones, who are fortunate enough to have their parents buy them or help them in purchasing a car like Z. I understand that maturity level or responsibility level comes at all ages but the fact that I've read some many youngers kids get into accidents and getting all those speeding tickets makes me wonder. I know I had my first and only speeding ticket right when I'd just turned 20..........and it wasn't in my Jetta, it was in my Acura which to me, at point, was a supercar. Until I got my Z then you could really see the difference. The thing is, you can easily get tempted into driving fast and showing off when driving a Z. I have still have a high insurance rate since I was 20 so I refuse to cut lose in this car.

Let's be honest, the majority of young kids aren't responsible enough to drive careful in a beater car let alone a Z. But that's just my biased opinion. Maybe I'm just jealous cuz my dad wouldn't buy me a car when I was 17.

No matter how mature a kid is its his/her inexperience with driving that makes the difference.

I've paid for all 4 of my cars including the Z and the S. I also worked my way up in power.

You still no matter how mature you are need to have experience driving. I've only been driving for 5 years and I can tell you that up until my 4th year of driving I continued to realize that I suddenly was able to do certain things easier than before. Now I'm able to predict what others will do, drive defensively, and try and predict what my vehicle will do.

I don't have a problem with a kid getting a Z as long as he is mature and understands that he is driving a performance vehicle.

Its ultimately up to how they were parented and how they respect themselves, their belongings and others lives as well

i really dont think it matters at what age you drive the car. Id love to drive them while im young to enjoy it because as you get older you tend to be more careful and do less speeding as supposed someone from high school. To me, i would be proud to pull up on traffic light whose car is same as mine like the z when im only 19yrs of age and he is like 40's. But then again the conclusion is whether you can afford it or not. Not only the car but the insurance as well.
