WRONG WRONG WRONG, this is typical of someone.. who never owned the car but just makes some random *** internet claims.

i've been in the STi for a long time. Most stock sti's trap 100-102 tops.. on the nasioc forums, after a full turbo back/reflash (+55 whp) the cars are then hitting 105-106 mph.

please don't make whack internet claims.

350z is under 100mph and almost a full second slower so when the sti "looses pace soon after" wouldnt come untill when? Maybe 130mph and then get passed at around 150mph? Please considering that the sti and z are limited to 155 you would be very lucky IF you could ever catch the sti let alone pass it.
stock sti's pull between .96 and .98 lateral G's
350z between .89 and .91
sti 700ft slalom's 69-71mph
350z 700ft slalom 66-68mph

Now if you dont believe me you can go to sport compact car, motor trend, car and driver, car test, edmunds, automotiveforums, ect and do your own homework kid, I know what Im talking about and dont need to waist anymore of my time proving you wrong.

Yes but we are talking about what the car is capable of not what some clown on nasioc does with it. I have seen a few stock 06 sti's trap 105mph at infineon(crap, slow) and in the very same day seen modded 350z's only trapping 94-96mph. So its not just a "whack claim" its also first hand experiance. This clown made a claim that the 350z has better all around performance then a sti and even IF the sti was ONLY trapping 100-102mph its still faster then a stock 350. Also chances are your talking about a vf39 sti's which now they use the vf43 that has a huge effect on the top end.

I would take a new '07 WRX over a 350z. They are looking very good, plus it comes with turbo and AWD.

You're going to take one palsy shifting 350Z owner and generalize him with the rest of us. For every decent driver out there, there's 5 that have no business driving a performance car. Please stop spreading misinformation. You also might want to visit the Drag forum on this site. Highest trap for a bolt-on N/A 350Z is 107.8 mph. Bone Stock is 102.7 mph.

Cool dude thats good to see that its possible. You all seem to think that somewhere I said that the z is slow, or doesnt perform when I didnt. I was simply stating that the z is not a better ALL AROUND performer then the sti stock for stock. Its that simple. It is in no way an attack on a perfectly capable car, just a defense directed towards a extreamly delusional Z owner.

No problem, I agree about the performance stock for stock. It's a shame their looks don't match their performance. Most people that look at the car and think it's an everyday 4 door econ car.

You're the *** clown making BS claims. You pick random numbers from random cars to try to make the Z look bad.
I already said the STI is better from a dig, but it's not because of power, it's only that is 4wd.
And from a roll??? Please. I have kicked the crap out of several STI's at speed with no trouble whatsoever.

I traded my 03 350Z Touring for an 07 Sti. I am not some ricer kid. I am 32 years old. Everyone I know told me I was crazy and it looks like crap. I myself was reluctant and on the fence for a while, not because the STi is so ugly...just because the Z is one of the sexiest cars ever to be designed.
The STi is a nice looking sedan. I have Urban Greay Metallic with silver BBS. The Z as a SPORTS CAR, completely blows it away in the looks department. Now, I plan to put on a WRX spoiler and it will be a quick, AWD, all weather, practical, reliable sedan that has ALOT of potential for cheap. It also has a nice race history and following as well.

What I have learned:

Getting used to a turbo 4 cyl takes time. Z had instant torque. I could roll around at 20 MPH in 3rd gear. The STi will buck and possible stall.
Z gas mileage was BETTER.
From a dig the STi is very quick
from a roll it is slower than my Z.
STi Sounds REALLY nice. Z sounds REALLY Nice
STi Interior is NOT WORSE THAN THE Z. This is simply not true.
Zs ride was more harsh and LESS BODY ROLL.

I think the peformance stock for stock is almost identical

I traded my Z becuase I had it 3 years and had 3 trannys put in and 2 major oil leaks and I felt it would not be a keeper. I also wanted something that I could drive in all weather and carry more people in.

I saw my Z for sale on the lot and on cars.com and I do really miss it, but I definitely like the STi as well.

A couple of nice gray STis from iwsti. I think they look pretty nice. Not at all like your station wagon pic.

I'm sorry but I just can't understand why you think the STI has 4WD? I think you mean "AWD". There's a difference buddy...

From Howstuffworks.com...
* Four-wheel drive - Usually, when carmakers say that a car has four-wheel drive, they are referring to a part-time system. For reasons we'll explore later in this article, these systems are meant only for use in low-traction conditions, such as off-road or on snow or ice.
* All-wheel drive - These systems are sometimes called full-time four-wheel drive. All-wheel-drive systems are designed to function on all types of surfaces, both on- and off-road, and most of them cannot be switched off.

I think just by that statement, ssteve wins

Hey buddy, just so you know, many 4WD systems are designed for on pavement use and can be left engaged at all times.

Thats when its called AWD. 4WD on pavement is bad. All 4 wheels are locked so when you turn, you can destroy your drivetarin. AWD is when 4 wheels are moving the vehicle, but can spin independently of each other.

my .02

As said many times above. The STi and the Z are two completely different cars, oranges to apples. My roommate and long time friend has an 05 STi (pulley, ECU, int, exh, short shift, optima, upgrades to his awd and so much other crap I can't even keep up anymore) basically a Stage 2 STi. He autocrosses it and runs it occasionally on the strip. Keep in mind it is worked and he can only get mid 14's out of it. Thats the best he has ran in it and not to mention on the track, he never places too high. It's not always the car then it is the driver. A stock Z should be running a 14__.
If your going to compare these two cars , your better off comparing the drivers in them. You can step into a GT2 Porsche and get whooped on by guys in less advantaged cars simply because they can drive better. Anyone can push the accelerator and hold the wheel straight, But understanding and adapting to what you drive is key. Not to mention actual driving challenges such as canyon driving or autocrossing.
Although the Z is more common place to see than the STi, the Z is part of a sports car pedigree and it's aesthetics are unmatched by any other car. The STi however is the ultimate rally car. It's ability in the gravel and dirt are also unmatched and Subarus history goes back just as far.
Recently I was going after a new WRX-TR. Heart set on it and all, part of the Subaru forums for months and was really into it. I lost interest because overall, the Subaru is not for me. Took months to figure, but considering Subarus notorious service dept and customer relations, it's arrogant fanboy following (not all are bad), the common transmission issues with them, the lack of interior satisfaction and cheap paint, along with other issues such as its understeer, etc.

The Subi is a quick car no doubt, awd from a stop is much better than rwd or fwd, as well in the turns. BUT- With the Subi, getting ahead is easy, staying ahead is much harder. www.streetfire.com search wrx videos and 75% of them you will see them launch and get a couple lengths ahead and then its over for them once 2nd and 3rd gear come to a close.

Get a good used Z, drop a ST or TT kit in it, then your going to ask STi what, who?

Going to see alot of Golds Gym Guidos in stock Z's cocked to the side with the hard-*** "im in a Z but I dont know s**t about them" attitudes W/ their anorixic haggard gf in the passanger seat, more than you will see STi's. But seeing a real Z enthusiast with a bad *** Z is very rare. Not to mention a Z that is a turbo sleeper.

Kudos to you if you actually read my ramblings.

HAHA! Or an SRT-4 for that matter. I went cruising dealerships about a year ago just to go test out some cars, and came across an SRT-4 at a dealership that had a Z I was looking at. Curiousity told me to see what all the muck was about over the hidious looking thing (dont call it a neon, srt-4 owners get angry) and the salesman told me this exactly:
"We have to get you preapproved to even test drive that"
- me " are you kidding, my 1.8t jetta is worth more than that car"
- salesman " well thats one of our higher end sports cars"
- laughing "but I dont need to get approved to drive the 350z eh"

wtf is that about?
