No need for sighs, car loans still offer some attractive APRs! Get busy with the paperwork and approvals...
In the meantime, get that Enthusiast model fully assessed by an independent mechanic!

Can't you use those blank checks the same way as with a dealer? Like with Capital One...they give you a blank check and you make it out for however much you need. Then your loan is that amount. Shouldn't be any different private party unless they say you can't do that.

Before you end this thread, there's two things you should do: first, if you're serious about buying a Z, I'd start shopping around for a loan. Get the lowest APR you can qualify for and terms you can live with. Make sure you won't get hit with early payment fees and educate yourself on the best way to borrow money. I agree with the other posts that say you shouldn't expect the seller to make your loan.
Second, go onto kbb.com or other used car websites and check out a range of prices for used cars. You can even plug in the milage and condition to get an idea about what the market will bear for a used Z in your area. Gaining a baseline price range will prove invaluable when you go out shopping.

I had people offer to make payments to me when I sold my old IS300.
Many of them acted shocked that I wouldn't even consider it.
Think of it this way- if your credit is so bad that you cannot qualify for a car loan, then why on earth would I even consider taking payments from you?
As the seller, you sell the car AS IS, and you want it out of your hands so you never want to hear of it or see it again. Giving the buyer the car without full payment up front is incredibly stupid on the sellers part and setting himself up to get pwned. Let's say the buyer wrecks the car? You think he's still going to pay you? HA! You'll have to drag it through the courts at that point.
Full lump sum up front or no deal.

i'll be 19 in july, i really dont need a creddit card yet, i want to save more cash now, so when i do get it, it will be easy to pay off, i just recently moved to FLA from NH, and opened my checking account here, and over heard the teller say they dont offer blank checks..my bank is bank of america
you can only get personal loans for a privately sold car. Interested rates on those are around 9%. After you can refinance if possible but only if the car is worth that amount you are refinancing.
