^Haha... I was thinking the same thing...
I used to own a tC- it was one of the original releases and the first pearl mica in my area... waited 3 mos for that damn car. It was fun and decent quality, but the milege wasn't that much better than the Z if you drove it hard. Plus the sunroof rattled like a SOB and that's why I ended up getting rid of mine.
The thing about the tC is that everyone wanted to race... now with the Z it's hard to find people willing to race. Love my Z though.

Sounds like simple clutch rattle to me, mine is very minimal. If they say they'll give you a new tranny you might as well do it to justify that warranty you bought. Congrats and great choice.
So what's your first mod plan?

1. 3M clear bra (there aren't any chips on it yet, and I'd like to keep it that way)
2. New tint (it's not dark enough)
3. JWT popcharger (my dad had one on his '03 and I thought it was great)
4. Test pipes (the exhaust really isn't loud enough, IMO)
Probably sometime after that some HID headlights, or some new rims..
To be honest, just driving it bone stock brings a smile to my face, so I'm in no rush at all.

LOL... I did the same thing. I had an 05 Flint Mica Scion tC 5spd. I had done some pretty nice mods to it but just wasn't happy with the FWD. So a year and a half later I traded her in for an 06 Black 6spd 350Z. Congrats on the car man! It's a huge difference. You'll miss the back seat sometimes, until your floor it and take a corner at twice the speed of your tC, then you'll remember why you bought the Z. Good luck with the tranny issue.

Yeah, 6th gear and an LSD... too bad the SC wasn't out by the time I got rid of mine... oh well, more $$ for the Z.
Oh yeah, and the thing about the 3rd brake light pissed me off.. only the center 4" of it light up.. the rest is "reflectors"... ghetto.
