Looks like Im getting an STi
Well, as much as I love RWD and the classy looks of the Z, Im going to trade my Z in for an equal mileage/year STi. Im big into modding and after spending a few bucks into the car, I got maybe..25rwhp.. But today, what really made my mind was blindly driving through an Ice patch which I htought was just water. I lost traction, TCS kicked in and made the situation worse and i did a nice squeel of the tires going 60mph. I caught it but I think i might be better off with an STi.
Im going to put a bunch of stuff up for sale maybe over the next month..but heres a starter!
Full header back exhaust, custom X pipe, flowmaster muffler -- 950 + shipping
Crawford Z manifold 150+shipping
MREV 2 100+shipping
Cusco F/R sway bars 375 + shipping
Work Emotion XD9 wheels w/ Kuhmo ASX. 60% tread. 245/40/18, 275/40/18 running +18 offset in the rear and +20 in the front. 1500+shipping
Thanks guys!

Ice doesn't care if you're AWD, RWD, or FWD... wet conditions, sand, gravel, snow, and you're set.
I almost got an STi or an S4 instead of the Z. But I have a winter truck for the crap weather so I went with the Z.
I still may get an STi if gas prices continue to climb like they are.

Honestly, EVO and STi are both capabable of the power range i want (330rwhp), but the STi has more torque, sounds better and I think looks better (cept for the charcoal grey evo 9 MR, drool). I am however, still test driving cars. I have 2 test drives lined up so far. Ill likley hit up a Mitsubishi dealership soon.
Oh and yes, I have a CNC Forged shift ****, but I need stock FIRST if you even want to talk about buying it.
And snow is a little easier to handle w/ AWD. I drive slow as **** to begin with. But i wont lie, thats just a small reason I exagerate haha. I want stock turbo damn it, with a bullet proof engine, with a bullet proof tranny (not idiot proof though ).
Ill PM guys once I have everything off. If the dealership aint messing with me (straight up trade... ), then I might start selling as soon as February.

Hey, if you don't have any other transportation besides the Z.. I would consider the same. While AWD wont save you from ice patches and the like, it's better to have an edge over RWD. If I didn't have another vehicle I wouldn't have a Z. Good luck

Have you check your tires? I got G not Z but with decent winter tires, you should have no problem w/ driving in flat surface (uphill would be different problem). I have G for my daily driving for 2 years and so far, have no problem with my daily driving during winter ... don't get me wrong, you wouldn't feel so confident as if you are driving awd BUT, at least for flat surfaces, it should handle as good as awd w/all-season tires (STI). --Unless you got stuck :P

I just did an auto-x in the rain this weekend. I witnessed EVOs & STIs sliding all over the course, even with their AWDs. RWDs cars were not any better. FWDs were doing fine. Patchy ice does not discriminate whether you're AWD, FWD or RWD -- it will bite you. If this is the main reason to get rid of your Z, you're making a big mistake. Buy a beater car & slap winter tires on them.

Blizzaks and my G35 makes my G35 safer in the snow then my 06 Tundra with M+S tires. Ice is ice. AWD is only going to make it slightly easier to pull out of the situation. What you need is real tires so you never get into the trouble.
