Good question. Obviously you received some silly answers. I would like to tell you why I like doing mods.

When I first bought the Z, I was satisfied, but only for a short time. Then I wanted more, but I really liked the Z and didn’t want to change cars. The solution was to start adding mods. Adding new stuff gave me a new experience and I still have the same car (just different). The first things I did were fairly benign. I changed out the lousy stock audio system. The large compartments behind the seats (not to mention the cargo space under the rear strut bar) are perfect for adding lots of great electronics and sound gear. Then I added navigation. That was fun. From there you can go to new wheels and tires (the Z changes dramatically when you change wheels and tires). The next step is going to performance mods. There are many options here. If you want to stay inside your 36K warranty and the 60K drive train warranty, you can add Nismo stuff and have the dealer do the install. If this isn’t a worry, you have a lot of choices.

The truth is this car is a great “canvas” for mods. It is one thing that makes the Z so fun to own.

i do it for the same reaosn that everyone else has said. to make it faster and more enjoyable, and to make it my own. what satisfaction do you have driving down the road and seeing 5 other z's just like yours? no one will remember it. if it's modded it stands out and people remember. it's something you can be proud of

For financial purpose: No it's not worth it, mods don't add value and might decrease the value of your car.

For pleasure purpose: It's worth it damn it! otherwise, we wouldn't be here and talking **** about our mods! This forum might be a lil bit boring then. Like all people said, we want to look different/cooler or get faster car (with our car)... it's not really something that "realistic" people would do hence we only make up abput 1% of all Z ...BECAUSE WE ARE NOT REALISTIC!! ...well, sometimes

This forum doesn't just help those that modify. It is great for finding answers to your questions(sometimes with a lot of flak) and a great source of information as members have so many different IDEAS and points of view to choose from. Enjoy your Z however you like it. It was designed as a high performance sports car, but many here can't get drag racing out of their blood and others obviously enjoy cruising city streets with it best. The car apparently adapts well.
