Question Not a fan of the 350Z?

This is a recent post from alt.autos.nissan.z-car

"My brother in law lives in the ny area and got one for $950 under list. The war is killing the economy, and the dealers are getting desperate. (Look at GM, for instance, which is offering 0%financing on most of its cars). Anyway, the 350Z is way overrated. The paint quality is a 6/10. Orange peel, overruns, very sensitive to acid rain. This is way below Porsche standards, and barely comparable to Honda. The beltline of the car is high and the front dash looks tacky. Why couldn't they use cues from the Maxima? Also, what is the purpose of 3 cupholders in a sports car? Is UNDERCOVER BROTHER the target audience?

Actually, I wondered about the cup holders before. The front one seems so cheap, I wonder why they felt they had to put it in. Really, I never put anything in it because I always get afraid it'll break. The two in back would have been fine.

Personally, I'm not a big fan of drinking (anything) and driving.

I thought the front cup holder was for the driver? It seems nice and convient right by the stick. Maybe I'm goofy?

Sounds like he's jealous of his brother. I like that third cup holder--much more convenient than trying to reach back behind me when I'm shifting. (Of course, I only allow bottles that can be tightly closed in my car!)

You can't please everyone.

But I just had 2 of my friends in FL for spring break. Even though we drove a POS rental since there is no room in the Z (heh i love having only 2 seats) when they drove the car they loved it.

And one drove 3 ferraris up to date. F355, F360 and F550. He says maybe the interior is not Ferrari quality the car is defeniately a great buy.

I got a boxster S and whenever i drive and see another Boxster (not Boxster S) its always a woman driving, and it looks like they have no clue how to drive. Well out where i am most people dont know how to drive, but have nice cars anyway. Mostly city people that come out for the weekend who havent driven in 52 weeks. It sucks, i get way to much road rage being near these idiots.

Why is it called tourist season if you cant shoot them?

I was ok with porsche up untill they made automatic boxsters. talk about selling out. I guess financial reasoning won over heritage of a sports car.

You can't blame porsche for making an automatic since thats were a great portion of their sales come from; but i can respect the few who only offer their cars in manual way more than an optional auto. The thing i don't like is you could stick a 12 year old(if he could reach the pedals) behind the wheel of a porsche or Z and he could be driving a high performance sports car. It takes no intelligence or ability, unlike with a manual transmission...not to say auto Z owners aren't alert drivers.

The 350Z actually stole it's 3rd cupholder from the S2000. That's why I only have one

I didnt go for the auto in my Boxster s. It just isnt as much fun as a manual. I like the feeling of having more control over the car. I have other automatic cars and they are just annoying at points, but you could only get them in automatic. I just got the Cayenne S and its automatic/tiptronic. The tiptronic is kinda odd, and it doesnt give you the same control as in a manual even though its kinda like manual. Yet, the Cayenne is nuts, it drives and handles just like a porsche yet its an suv. At some points i swear that it feels faster in 0-60 than the Z, but thats just the feeling, not whats actully happening.
