I'm pretty sure the VQ has aluminum block & heads. Thats probably why it weighs so little for it is.

Well i'm pretty sure the 2JZ-GTE is an iron block motor, so that would probably add considerable weight.

i dont have numbers, but the 2jz is WAY heavier than the vq.
my buddy is putting a vq35de in his 240sx and the motor is almost the same as the sr20det was. that's very light for a 6cyl.
aluminum and 2000+ engineering ftw

motor mount locations and IM's are different, otherwise they are 100% the same up to the rev up version thats when there not.

My 03 maxima motor has the same cams, rods, pistons, heads and compression.as your 350z.

krismax if you read what i posted it said nothing about the cams, rods, pistons, heads and compression all it said is the motor they weight is not a 350z motor,if you look at the weight from a front wheel drive sr 20det motor swap and a rear drive sr 20det motor swap the weight is different about 50 lbs you should read thread before you try to prove something

i have seen both of these motors out of the cars and i would probably say the 350z IM is prob 10lbs more.

i would say the 350z motor is +10- 20lbs more than the fwd 3.5 but otherwise they are almost identical
