Z in Car and Driver
I just read the latest Car and Driver that is up online on their site. I think they tested the wrong car. It says fastest 07 cars with a base of 25 to 30k. They have the specs for the 07 but the mag test results look just like the test results I have found for the 06. What do you think?

more like 15 HP since they are using the new measuring system...so I would imagine it will be noticeable to a degree. although others have reported the smooth and linear accesleration iof the new engine is deceiving.

how could the Z be rated #6, it's gotta be faster than the mazdaspeed 6, and i know for a fact it's faster than the stupid @ss ford mustang gt, it should rank atleast 3rd, who did they have driving those cars. theres something seriously wrong with that list.
According to there test result numbers to me it looks just like the 06. They quoted tech #'s from the 07 but something is fishy. Otherwise the 07 is just like the 06 and though I have nothing at present to back it up, I thought the G sedan with the HR had better numbers. It would stand to reason then the Z would have better numbers as well.
I always wonder how "managed" the outcome of these tests are, especially the ones where there's a lot of subjectivity. When you start ranking cars like that, it really blurs the line between journalism and advertising.
Plus, I'd think the best way to determine how 'quick' a car is to take them all to a road course.

It's fairly obvious what happened. C/D tested an '06 and listed it as an '07. They talk about it having 306 HP, but they also talk about it having a VQ35DE engine. They also mentioned the Track model, which is no longer available. Someone at C/D just got confused. They probably asked Nissan for an '07, but were given an '06.

So I'm guessing you're one of those "targeted market" people that don't understand that Peak HP is only 2% of what matters.

Performance is about "area under the curve".
