Default 5AT Shift Boot Mod + Dealership = Pwned

Took the Z in for a oil change at the dealership this morning. I did the shift ****/boot mod as my first mod when I bought the car. It literally took 3 service techs 5 minutes to figure out how to get the Z moving. At one point, one of the guys was stumping on the dead pedal and jerking the shifter wondering why he couldn't get the car "in gear"....

It really didn't hurt anything. It was really funny watching the guys being confused. Of course I was on them like a hawk after that. I'd be out of there had I taken it in for anything more than an oil change.

Should've done your own oil change to begin with!

It's the mod described here https://my350z.com/forum/body-interior-exterior-and-lighting-diy/160886-how-to-shift-knob-for-5at.html

minus the less than desirable "carbon fiber" boot

The lack of a clutch pedal was likely confusing them.

Thats hillarious. How do you mistake the dead pedal for a clutch pedal? Plus the fact that the shifter only goes up and down... I haven't seen the gauges in an AT Z but isn't there a gear display somewhere in the cluster? I would have been rolling on the ground hahaha. Good laugh man.

Get that mod is pretty cool. Imagine you take out some really dumb chicks and they start asking you to teach them how to drive manual.

Hey this mod is news to me.... but I would never have an automatic Z so I don't tend to stay on top of auto-mods... the lack of a clutch and the shifter would be a dead give away that someone disguised their auto as a manual... if you wanted to REALLY screw with people... you should install the manuals clutch & brake pedals...

$h!t that might even fool david. You just have to make sure you leave the AT in neutral, that is when it looks the most realistic. lol
