I'm also curious for 0-60 and 1//4 times also for the 2007 Z.

I thought the gearing was much shorter than that... sorry... it's been a while since I had my Z.

So I went to get some food, and I hit 71 in 2nd going up a really steep incline/hill.

0-60 will be much faster than my 03, I can alerady tell.

I never thought about it until now but I wonder how the '07 model's 7500 redline would do with 3.9 gears? The 3.9 gears would shorten the gears but the extra revs would probably make up the lost mph per gear (compared to the older VQ's). Should be a good combo.

You 07 guys are a trip... Much faster 0-60 huh... My friend bought an 07 and has 1500 miles on it already... I will say it drives smoother and shifts cleaner (IMO) but it does not pull away form any Z (03-06).... It is a hair faster (talking about a slow creep faster than a bone stock 03 Z) atleast the one we have tested with... From 0-60 it actually pulls a good 3/4 car to a car... Now I have ran him with my 06 (obviously I have some mods) but running him at my 268hp map, I pull on him pretty hard... Im not saying the 07's are slow or that they will not be as easy to upgrade, just saying out of the box they are not that much faster than an earlier Z model... And the 07 hood does look better in person than in pictures...

Whats the big deal with 0-60. My experience tells me unless you're talking sub low 4's it doesn't mean much. 0-60 doesn't forecast 1/4 mile times or traps...

Well I can do 0-to 60 in Three shifts. So mine is better. LOL

Now come on. The zero to sixty times are as said a number of times 5.2. That's not bad at all for Six cylinders. I am well impressed.

The G35 is doing 5.2 because it has a shorter final drive. The 07 Z will likely not beat that time to 60 because it does not get the new shorter final drive that the 07 G has. Although it is 200 lbs lighter. I am guessing 5.3 to 5.4. Put some 3.9 gears in the 07 and it might break the 5-second barrier or maybe 5.0 flat. That would be nice! The 07 gets up to 69-70 mph in second gear. Drop in some 3.9's and it'll still get to 62-63 mph in second gear.

Of course shorter gearing could hurt 1/4 miles times if it requires an extra shift at the very end.

I am still waiting for the 3.7 or 3.8 Liter Z for a sub-5-second 0-60 and a sub 13.3 in the 1/4.

Notice how marketing on the G35 has dropped the 35? Now it's just the G. And they are preparing to drop the 350 from the Z. It'll just be the Z. Next thing you know, it'll have more displacement.

0-60mph time is a worthwhile performance spec, but too difficult to measure. Maybe 1 in 100 drivers are set-up to measure 0-60mph. And the necessary equipment is flawed: it is neither accurate or calibrated.

On the other hand, 1/8 and 1/4 mile ET and trap speeds are easy to measure. Just take your car to the dragstrip.
