Having RESPECT for fellow Z owners?

I think the problem with Z-to-Z acknowledgement is that we cover a large demograph. The spectrum of owners for this car is pretty wide.
From soccermoms to track junky weekend warriors, business executives, converted muscle car guys, kids from the import scene, you name it.
It's one of the few cars where you go to a meet or run into a Z owner and people will say,
"Oh, I use to be an American muscle type of guy, this is my first Jap."
"My last car was a modified Integra."
"I bought it because it looked good!"
or
"I usually buy Germans but decided to go to the dark side."
It really attracts alot of folks from all over, so not everyone can relate to each other.

true that... i was in dover, DE and theres not too many Zs there, dude drove by me in a black Z waved at me, i noded back at him, thats the only time it ever happened... but it sure felt good to get acknoledgement from another fellow Z owner
Something must be in the air over where I live. The other day, owners of a Vette, WRX, Z, and KIA all tried to show boat by reving their engines or accelerating hard while in their sight.
To the Z and the WRX next to the Z, you both saw my rear before you knew what happened. To that 50 yr. old + Z owner, wtf were you doing? WRX owner your turbo sounds small. To the turbo charged vette owner, nice ride, but you made an *** of yourself. Dude, I was behind you at a drive through. KIA owner, no comment, just keep driving.
Maybe, its me, but I think those fools need to grow up and get a grip. Yah, I have a Z, so what, I have nothing to prove.
Back to the original question; I only wave to the fresh young women that drive around in their Zs.

I nod or wave when I see another Z, stock or modded. Sure, I get a warm fuzzy feeling in my heart when the person waves back. But I really don't give 2 ***** if they don't. I choose to acknowledge a beautiful car by waving. It's about me, not them. I don't get my feelings hurt over it.

+1 to the comment about the shoes, maybe when you see anyone at all with something the same as what you have you should just start waving. Obviously no one would do this because it makes no sense kinda like waving at every single G35 or 350z on the road. If you hang out with a local group or attend meets and happen to know the person your waving at it just seems to make more sense.

I think you have just as many people buying vettes for the same reason as you stated for the z. I really do think it's just a matter of tradition, like I said, once you get a vette EVERYONE tells you to wave. Do a search for "Corvette Wave" and you will find a slew of websites about the tradition of waving. When I got the z, he just said enjoy it and that was it. I guarantee you if Nissan told their salespeople to start telling people to wave to other z's you would slowly start to see it picking up momentum after a few years.
I guess here in Southern California, we have sooo many Z's, that even if people knew to wave, we'd be getting into accidents doing it all day. I literally see at least half a dozen on my commute to work
I myself rev my engine at fellow Z's just to say "what's up." I mean, I don't redline it or anything, just a slight rev to aknowledge them. Maybe this is disrespectfull, but it seems to me that honking or flashing your light is a little much
Reving at another is prompting a street race. I've been out of street racing back in the late 90's. What's the point of waiving at other Z's & G's. If it's something new then I might give them a nod but that's rare.
I wave, nod, rev, scream, talk to, whatever I can to any car that gets my attention, z or not. Back in the GTO days, I would give the 8 cylinder salute, which sounded a lot like the end of the world (supercharger, long tubes, catback) I really do think its bonus points if you have a conversation with a fellow driver.
Maybe thats just me though. Im very outgoing and try to talk to as many people as possible.

Try being a young Z owner and see how many haters there are.
Different people get different oppurtunities, I still dont understand why other people get ticked when they see a young Z owner.
I always wave a hand to other Z owners because I understand what a joy it is to drive a Z.

I mainly wave at the fine MILF I see driving them.

Bike riding is like a culture/hobby versus driving a Z is definitely not. A friend's ex-girlfriend just bought a Z recently. I had a conversation with her about the Z and told her to be careful on the snow. She asked me why and I told her because it's a rear wheel drive with performance tires. She asked me, "What do you mean by rear wheel drive?"...
So my conclusion is there are Z owners out there that don't even know their cars are rear wheel drive or don't even know what rear wheel drive stands for.
