hahaha good stuff. Ill definately go out and buy that "blue painters tape". Im gona go visit my mom in NC. Havent seen her since I graduated boot camp (6.3yrs ago) I wanted to arrive in style. Whooe I can already picture the line of chicks over there waiting for me. :P Also I wanted to do something outa my life. Im gona take my time go sight seeing n stuff im not just gona run and gun. Except during the long boring sections of mid U.S.
Most of my time here Ive been working odd hours. Now that I dont have to work at all my average times are 11am wakeup 4am sleep. I figured I'd be safer to sleep during the day in rest stops? But the schedule you guys put up made more sence. And btw military pays me for my trip

After taking my -Z- on some trips, I've concluded that the -Z- is definately the least comfortable (of my few vehicles) for long drives (5+hours). Nothing is more fun for less, though.
If you can find a walmart in the area you want to take a nap in, I've heard they have a policy where they say it's ok for you to sleep in your car in the parking lot. I knew a drifter that bought a van and would sleep in it in walmart's parking lot. He and others have said it's a national thing they have going, so it would be worth checking out. I know I'd feel a lot safer sleeping in my car in a walmart parking lot than a rest stop....I don't even like stopping at rest stops to use the restroom.
Also, I don't know about other states, but I know in GA you can carry a knife or gun in the glove compartment with no problem. GA is also possibly going to pass a law saying it's ok to carry a weapon anywhere in your car that you'd like, but that's getting off topic now. The weapon law is probably going to be different everywhere you go.

Don't bring the Fix-A-Flat. That will do more harm to your wheel, tire and pressure sensor than it's worth.
Get one of these...

+1 stay away from fix a flat unless you got a beater. I like to carry a nice lug wrench so that there is no sweating if you got to get a lug nut off. It also serves as your club/batton.

raise your car a little if its lowered.... you never know how rough the roads are in different areas..... dont wanna mess anything up... specially if you have a kit on it.....oh yeah.. hope you're not turbo'd lol..... that'll kill your gas quick if you're drivin hard... lol i know it does mine....
You are planning a long trip with a lot of driving. If you are alone in the car, you definitely need to plan your trip.
1) Most importantly: Don’t drive if you get sleepy. That’s when you pull over and take a short nap in a rest area (but not late at night when you shouldn't be driving anyway). Most single car accidents that result in a fatality happen because the driver falls asleep at the wheel and kills them self while leaving the roadway (rollover or hitting a stationary object).
2) Create a “flight plan” and try to stick to the plan. Determine in advance how far you drive each day and where you end up at day’s end. Of course, you must also maintain some degree of flexibility (i.e., you may get farther or less distance than your “flight plan,” and need to do a realistic modification).
3) Drive during daylight hours and rest at dark.
4) Never sleep in your car at a rest-stop. That is not safe. Independent-truck-drivers do this, but they are in an elevated cab, armed (dog, gun, and/or other weapon), and know the “terrain.”
5) Didn’t see a cell phone on your list. That is a requirement for long distance hauls.

are you driving just to get to your final destination, or are you sightseeing along the way? there's some pretty awesome and wacky stuff out in the middle of nowhere.
a. I like the small pillow idea. You can use it for lumbar support or thigh support. I often stretch my legs into the passenger area.
b. Talk radio seems to make the time go by.
c. Avoid major cities during rush hour. Some cities have a bypass route. Use it. I am a night person, and prefer to drive at night, and sleep during the day.
