not all are Stealerships
took my '04 into a different Nissan dealership because one of my windows not working properly. they came back and said that the 3-year warranty is from when the manufacture date is!!!!(10/03) mine wasn't bought for exactly one year after so i assumed i had until late '07. so they said it was $90 to inspect. that it was probably the motor ($260) they wound up replacing the motor free of charge,AND waived the $90 fee
"replaced the left front window motor in the interest of customer satisfaction to goodwill parts and labor as per service mgr."
WOW!
and they gave me a loaner for the day at no charge too!
they're out there people, just keep lookin til you find one!

The 3-year warranty actually isn't over until 3 years from the day you bought it. I specifically made sure of that before I signed my papers. They were pulling your chain. Glad you got it fixed for free though.

I've had excellent service from my dealership. On my first Z that I purchased used, I took it in for an oil change and they suggested I get the transmission replaced. I also got the grease streak on the window fixed, no questions asked.
With my current Z, I have gotten the rear axle clicking TSB performed and the endlinks replaced under warranty. They are fast and easy to deal with.

your warranty starts the day you buy your car.

The driver's-side window on my '04 Touring started to fail about one month *after* my 3-year warranty expired (it was 3 years after I bought the car, not its manufacturing date). The window-motor was audibly straining to raise the window and it was raising it very slowly. There is a TSB for this issue but no recall. I took it to the dealership in Springfield, Va., which replaced the window motor free even though they weren't contractually obligated to do it. Guess where I'm most likely to buy my next car?
Contrast this treatment with Lustine Dodge in Woodbridge, Va., where I had my '99 sedan serviced around the same period to replace a faulty transmission sensor. Lustine charged me a $90 diagnostic fee even though it acknowledged its service computers identified in less than 2 minutes which one of the of two possible sensors needed to be replaced, charged me twice as much for labor as other dealerships in the area charge for this same procedure, billed me $65 to fix an unrelated problem that still isn't fixed and charged me a "supplies" fee (the manager explained later this fee was to pay for "shop rags" and other miscellaneous supplies). The manager refused even to speak with me about adjusting the bill.
I finally got $100 refunded after I pried the dealership badge off my car and mailed it back to them, registered a Web site domain that indicated my displeasure with Lustine and threatened to operate a Web site to catalog my complaints and everyone else who was unhappy with them. Guess where I will *never* buy another car?
