Yeah it really depends on where you live, what the laws are and how bored the cops are. I had an MX-5 for 4.5 years with no front plate and got pulled over once, for which I just got a warning. It just gives the cops an excuse to pull you over and when they do that who knows what else they might bring up

Your state DMV website should tell you what the actual laws are for your state regarding front plates.

$140 for no front plate???? Is that first offense in NY?

I got a $52 ticket for my first offense here in NJ.

I live in the NW suburbs of Chicago and I have had no problems for my lack of front plate. However, I have gotten ticketed twice in the city for no front plates. $75 each offense. I finally purchased the Stillen removable front plate bracket for my trips into the Loop.

i got pulled over for a red light violation one time in my school parking lot, and there were two cops that came up to my car ... one was talkin to me about my ticket, and the other was walkin around my car with a clip board .. but he didn't even give me a license plate ticket ... what was the point of doing the walk around? -____-

my neighbor's also a cop and i always park in the street facing his house and clearly you can see my cf hood and no plates ... eh i dont wanna take the chances, i'll put my plates back on this week.

Default ticketed in LAX Lot C parking lot

2004 with 48,000 miles and last week got my first front license plate ticket in the long term parking lot at LAX. It wasn't a fix it ticket, but a parking violation for $25.00.
The LA county revenue generating machine is very alive. Since I'll be flying a lot out of LAX I guess I'll have to invest in the Zee bracket...argh.

I'm unsure, but I think fines go up exponentially (ie. 2nd fine $100, 3rd fine $500..)

It's ironic bc I've been pulled over several times (OR and CA) and the cops never gave me a ticket nor mentioned to me that it was even an issue.

No front plate in Arizona but the registration fee more than makes up for the fines you guys are paying in other states.

My car is my daily commuter...so it's my pebble deflector for my radiator...and I don't want to deal with getting stopped.

Denver officers (thankfully) do not seem to bother with missing front plate. Never had a problem.

Not so bad .... and they are easy to take off for show days ....

With more and more photo enforcement going on they are going to start to push this law. Big brother watching now...

Yep, figured if you have to have a plate on the front of the Z. It's not too bad.

Looking at it now, I think I might paint the tabs on it so it looks more like a real frame.

Maybe:
