ok, I was registering for the cd case and had my vin out(no clue what my pin number is tho...)

and the last digits are 101661

the 1661 is the number it was build, but doesnt that first 1 mean it has side airbags? or does that mean it doesnt?

 

mine is 109902 or something and I don't have side airbags...

If the first number starts with 0, it has the side air bags If it starts with a 1, it does not have side air bags.. mine is 001890 and I have side air bags..

Correct. There were supposedly two lines building cars at Opama One for side bags and one without. So your car was the 1661st car off of the line that made cars without airbags. There is also a car built on the other line that has airbags and whose VIN ends with 001661.

 

interesting, i guess thats why im like 000283 or somthing like that, no airbags here, though im sure they could be useful!

 

Josh, with 000283, you should have the side air bags. I'm 001890 andI have them. Are you sure your first number is not a 1?? Please take a look.

So I guess I am the 11,314th car built with no side airbags. That is starting to add up to a lot of Z's unless there are a lot more with no airbags than with...

 

Slexis200: If your VIN is 000283 that should mean that your car has side air bags and was only the 283rd car produced. When did you take delivery. If that is your VIN, it must have been in August I would guess.


Potato Head: What does your VIN end with? To be the 11,314th car, it would have to be 011314 (if you have airbags) or 111314 if you don't. When did you take delivery?

 

I just received my VIN # (115316) and expect to receive the car on May 14th. It was part of the March production run. So, it sounds like we're up to over 15K cars.
