yes, it was a judgement on my part. he could be bill freaking gates for all i care, i'd still think 45k [or really, any amount] is ludicrous for a ring.

it's personal taste, but i don't like or wear jewelry, besides 3 gold bangles that hold sentimental value and were passed down among the women in my family.

i dont like diamonds, i dont like pearls. i dont like putting incredible value in rocks and metals and pieces of sand when there are people in the world who are living without fresh water. YES it was a judgement on my part, and i'm sorry if he takes offense to it, but it's the MEN out there that perpetuate women's obsession with jewels. stop buying them this **** and they'll stop expecting it.
I think I'm in love

oneDIRTYz, I'm sure lots of people out there look at us spending money on our cars and think we're ludicrous too. People have different priorities--if he's happy spending 45k on a ring, who are we to judge?
2002-2006 was a very good time for real estate and mortgages here in south florida i opened my own real estate agency and mortgage brokerage with her help and shes bangin as hell. i aint got no regrets and dont give a **** what anyone thinks.

i didnt get a chance to read what u wrote because u edited but ill say this u r entitled to ur opinion its all good i take offense to nothing this is a forum and for all anyone knows im full of **** (btw im not but whatever) i married my woman and she never asked for that ring but when i was shopping for a ring i just happened to come across this particular piece i was making ridiculous money at the time the appraisal on it came in high and it seemed like a good idea (business wise and personally) i have never told her or for that matter anyone besides my brother how much i spent up till now. i have nothing to prove or disprove to anyone and for what its worth im fairly new here so i dont want to be disliked already, i understand people may not completely agree with certain purchases or even values given to material items by our ridiculous society but it made me happy to buy it it made me feel like i had accomplished a lot i turned a 1 man show into a business that currently employs 30 people and have made hundreds of people happy with their new home purchases. i completed my dream of owning a home both here in the U.S. and my Grandmothers home in another country and soon ill be paying cash for a retirement property in my Wifes home country of Brazil.
Thank You guys for ur opinions thats why I love the U.S. we all have the right to agree, disagree, or whatever. I take no offense and I hope once my deal on my 350 is finalized i will have a long relationship with people here.

Thanks

no problem man, i understand where you're coming from. you can spend your money on anything you want... in fact i think it's great you're buying homes not only here but in you and the wifey's home countries.
my only beef [and not with you, personally, but in general] is with jewelry.

Nothing in life is a "good deal". Everyone just needs to let each other pick whats important to them and let them spend their money.

Cars are important to me. Is my 350z a good purchase? No. Is it practical? No. Is it responsible? No. Do I love it and does it provide an escape from everyday life? Yes!

I also enjoy going out to nice places. Should I not do this because other people are starving in other countries? Should I live a life of poverty because others have to or should I consider myself blessed and be in a position to help those in need when the opportunity arises?

Its all about balance and perspective and i choose to live life in the way it was given to me to live.

oneDIRTYz,
To criticise someone's spending is hypocritical when you are spending money on things that can be considered of little value to others, such as your car. Regardless of the amount.

Nope. I buy stuff for my car and she buy's clothes or whatever. As long as the bills are paid and we meet our savings goal for the new house every month it really doesn't matter what the other money is spent on. Now if I was spending it on strippers she may have words
