I was just wondering what everybodys' girlfriends and wives think about you modding your z's.

My girlfriend HATES it when I buy something for my car and goes on and on about how I love it more than her . I buy her gifts every month or so but I guess she doesn't think a tiffany's necklace isn't as good as the parts i buy for my car

My wife has no complaints. She loves the sound of the car, and she knows it is good for my mental health.

 

I'm engaged.... she used to love it, now that we have to pay for a wedding she's hating it =p

My wife hates it when I even mention my car. When I mention actually putting money into it she flips the F out.
This is probably just one of the many reasons I will be filing for divorce soon.
I have never met anybody this jealous in my life.

 

Just point to the no. of shoes and purses exploding out of the closet - works for me.

My gf doesn't really trip when i buy parts for my car. Infact, she is quite intrigued by the parts and the work thats done.

 

my girlfriend didnt mind until i got test pipes and now the car smells outside so shes mad about that but, other than that its been smooth sailing.

 

As long as I take care of her too she doesnt mind

 

Doesn't care. I think she enjoys the fact, that my car (used) to be quicker than all her friends benz/bimmers and many of the carrera's here.

I went back to stock though, (grew up with the mod scene)on the IS other than little thing's. Got alot of money then spent it on her. I don't think shell care about me modding the Z just as long as im not illegally racing it this time.

 

my girl really doesnt care that i buy parts, she just thinks its crazy how stuff that isnt huge costs so much money...aka- diff, coilovers, turbo and supporting mods etc... shes into cars somewhat as well so she likes being able to see/feel what new parts do to the car. also, she doesnt care if i buy stuff for her or not, she just appreciates a nice lunch/dinner everyonce in a while.

 

My girlfriend jumps back and forth about it. She thinks it's a waste of money and always gives me the same treatment as the OP's gf but at the same time she loves the way my car looks. Every time we go anywhere she jokes and say "Hey let's take the Z so I can look cool and pretend to be an import model." She does however throws it back in my face whenever she buys an expensive purse or pair of shoes. I have nothing to say about it when I just dropped ~$800 on a JWT combo.

 

Add one more to the wife absolutely HATES it club. She got totally BIG-TIME pissed because I bought coilover and some suspension upgrades. I haven't even gotten to the twin-turbo or NA rebuild conversation yet. I better make sure the dog house doesn't leak outside before I bring that conversation up.

Everything costs money, it just depends on your priorities and where you want to spend it.

It sucks becasue it add SOO much stress to the relationship. One of those things that would have been nice to know before we got married years ago, but its a give and take and we all do what we can..
