Need advice on a touring edition coupe
Hey guys! My first post here
Im currently looking at getting a 2006 touring coupe. Its a "left over" which means its still new and has about 85 miles on it. It was marked down to about $28,995, but after taxes and all, comes to about $32,000. At the same dealer, they have a 2003 touring coupe with around 34,000 miles priced at around $22,000 (which can probably be talked down).
2006= daytona blue with leather frost interior
2003= silverstone with leather black interior
My questions are:
--how much of a difference will i feel performance wise considering the cars use different engines?
--does the '03 touring come with hid's? (i know all the 06's do)
--any differences at all that i may want to consider which i may lose out on by not getting the 2006 (anything from seat adjustments to radio config.) ?
Im aware of the oil prob in the 06 and the tranny/window probs in the 03. But is the tranny prob in the 03 a continuous one? (i.e.-if its fixed once, is it prone to reoccur?)
any other insight (such as colors) would be helpful! thanx guys!

the 07 is out of the picture because my price range is limited at around $28,000 and im definitely looking for a touring. The 06 is a stretch at its price but is do-able
DB is hot, and this is coming from a CS owner.
-performance difference will be negligible between the 2. The engines arent really different the 06 is just upgraded a bit for a few extra HP but a few less tq
-the 03 touring does come with HIDS standard.
-there were some interior upgrades on the 06, just little things that you can compare yourself
there also were problems with the 03 bose headunit, as well as a bunch of other tech service bulletins (tsbs) in 03 including the tranny, tire feathering, and window grease streaks, etc etc.
if the $$ isnt an issue id go with the 06 probably.

The payments would be almost $300 (from $530 to $250) cheaper a month, so with saving that cash for 4-5 months, I could paint the car DB if I really wanted to I guess...
My main concern would be the reliability of the vehicle. Any one stand out more over the other when it comes to that?

obviously the new car should be much more reliable...i noted some of the problems with the 03's, its a decision youll have to make. other than the factory problems the 03 is generally a pretty reliable car.
also dont forget since you live in jersey, if you plan on driving the car in the winter youll need to buy a set of snow tires for the car

Get the 06. The other is at least 4 years old. 03s had several issues because it was first year. Some 03s, like mine, had zippo problems; other 03s had many.
06 is definately more reliable.
06 is definately more reliable.
IMO, the '06 for sure. New, way less miles, upgraded interior trim, incredible bi-xenon headlights and LED tails, very acceptable 18" stock wheels(the size of previous years' Track), lighted steering wheel controls, bigger brakes, speed sensitive steering, better cabin storage places, and if you like the Daytona Blue....you won't easily find another one as it is much less common.

its like asking would u rather get a virgin or a beat up one =] j/k.....but seriously i have a 03 PPW Touring i dont really have anything wrong with the car except my gas gauge doesnt work properly and my Bose system cuts off when i hit bumps and stuff. Dude u should have more pros for the 06 the the 03. Less miles. you know it wont be beat on like crazy. and bigger head lamp =] thats my 2cents
msrp:
2006=$28,995
2003=$22,400
what would you change to make either one a "good deal"?
I just got back from test driving the 2003 and it felt pretty good! No noticeable problems (even the flip up console in the middle worked perfect lol) the leather seats were still in good condition, shifted nice and felt solid. I also asked about extended warrantys and all...
The original salesman who was going to help me (before he got fired/quit) quoted me at $530 a month for the 06, but my new associate quoted me at a MINIMUM of $613 a month... with a 2,000 down payment, the 03 would be low 400's maybe even mid to high 3's. Now keep in mind i am a college student and will be in Florida (no snow tires to the above poster) and im not sure if id be able to handle that 2006 monthly payment... so i guess im leaning towards asking what price would you buy the 2003 touring model (34,4xx miles) for?

I have an '03 and it is immaculate and flawless and is running better now with 40,000 miles than it did when it was new. As far as features it has everything the '06 does for the most part. Ive got 6 speed with 18" rims, Bose, Leather, HID's, the chrome "Z kick plates", factory Aero Package, etc. personally i wouldnt trade my Z for an 06 or even an 07 for that matter. They will have to drastically change the Z for me to get a new one and the "tweaks" they have done to the newer models dont justify it (for me-just my opinion). Several of my buds have 05, 06 and 07 models and as far as driving around they are really no faster than mine.

I'd suggest getting the loan from your bank or credit union, the dealer was screwing me an extra 2% to go with them.
I got an 04 touring coupe for $22K last week. It had been on the lot since Sept. Maybe they aren't selling too good. Use the Internet to find every Z for sale in the US.
