Default Is the extended warranty worth it?

I got the 7yr,100,000 mile, no dectuctable bumper to bumper for 1500. Should i keep it, or cancel it. I'm planning on keeping this car longer than 3 yrs. Also did I get a good price?

the thing is, powertrain 6yr, 60k, is for transmission and engine parts right?

I got a 6 year 100k for 900 bucks, and I like it because free oil changes, free pretty much everything. Only maintenence thing i've paid for is the pads to be changed. They resurfaced my rotors for free and rotate my tires for free too. Its a pretty good thing I guess.

I never buy an extended warranty. I replace the car/truck before it gets too old.

The mandatory extended warranty

The scenario: You’re ready to sign the papers when the finance manager says you must buy a $3,000 extended warranty. The bank requires it, he says.

The details: In some states such a pitch is illegal, but it’s hard to prove if you don’t get it in writing. At any rate, lenders typically don’t require an extended warranty.

What you should do: Consumer Reports does not recommend buying an extended warranty unless the car is particularly trouble-prone. Most basic warranties are sufficient, covering at least three years or 36,000 miles.

Well i got the gold package warranty and tell you the truth i have no idea what it can do cuz all i did is take my car in for was my break pads to be changed but they said they wouldnt do it even tho the brochure and the salesman who sold me the car and warranty said it would. They started saying something it has to be a manufacters problem and i was like it is i bought the car 1 1/2 months ago and its was all gone

1st if it gives you free oil changes and tire rotation and re-surfacing of rotors... its worth it!

2nd seems like there are a lot of problems with the 350z (window motor breaking down, 3rd gear grind, fuel tank, etc)

3rd If you're looking to sell it after 3 years, it would increase the value of the car if you have an extended warranty to transfer over. $$

So yeah, i think its worth it..

I got the hard sell on extended warranty from the finance dept. too. I told them I chose a Nissan because of its reliability and they were basically telling me that it wasn't reliable enough so I was changing my mind about buying the car. He back peddled so fast that I was out of there in 10 minutes in my new car.

Generally not a good deal, otherwise they wouldn't make so much money on them...sometimes as much as they made on selling the car itself.

I just got this 04 350Z and tracked down the original owner and findout that he had bought this and signed it over so that the dealership could give it to the new buyer. Of course, they didn't tell me about it and tried to sell me another one, which I didn't buy.

How much trouble should I expect when I call them and demand that they get this transfered to me?

Thanks.

You silly, I know how to rotate tires in the Z, and so does the dealership, and thats on only asyymetrical directional tires.
My tires are symetrical so I can just swap the wheel over. But even when they were asymetrical, they would unmount and remount every 7k miles for free.

i say keep it. i've already used the roadside assistance to get my keys out of my car. also it is a great selling point when you get rid of the car.

I can't believe some of the post I am seeing here! All Nissan's come with a 3yr/36k bumper to bumper and a 5yr/60k powertran warranty. I figured this was good enough so the only thing I bought with my car was gap ($600) and a 3 year maintenance plan ($600).

Buying an extra year/40k warranty is useless unless you're putting on the miles! bumper to bumper is something else, but chances are the repair would have cost less in the end. Also. most warranty's I know of do not cover reg maintenance, you bought something else.

If you mod any part of your car you run the risk of warranty work being denied because they like to put the blame on mods even though it doesn't have anything to do with the problem. I know this is illegal but try taking them to court... So if you mod heavily you most likely wasted your money on an ext warranty!

if you still decide to get the extended warranty, make sure to get it from the manufacturer(nissan).

I dont know I like it, plus I'm planning on never selling this car, hopefully I just make more money and buy more cars, no point of having a car than selling it, you get bored of them, might as well get paid, keep the cars and buy more, cars are more to me than just cars, they are memories of great times and and good things hopefully, so I rather keep it and just remember the good times, then sell it for a measly cost
