its not really about the powerband, but i guess its just a matter of preference. the way i see it, the higher gear yields better gas mileage, lower oil consumption, and less strain on the engine. the oil pressure drops after selecting a higher gear, so im guessing this means less oil is being burned?
I never shift out of first gear because I'm too cool for anything less... I love everyone hearing my exhaust and my engine rev real high... makes me look mad cool yo... don't be a sissy... your engine should live at redline or you're not a real man.

6th gear - for the casual driving experience.
I think that driving under 2000 rpm is bad for the motor because of the deposits that will build up over time in the intake and valves.
I run 1st to 5000
2nd 3000
3rd 3000
then if im not at speed limit i shift to 4th or 5th
6th is for interstate 70+
btw i still avg 20mpg
