its best to be in the lowest rpm while cruising at 40mph for fuel efficiency right? do you keep it in 5th or take it up to 6th? I think its around 2100 rpms in 5th, and 1600 rpms in 6th. just want some honest feedback, thanks.
i usually shift to sixth at about 55mph. as soon as the previous gear gets to above 2500rpm i shift up. i try and go between 2k rpm and 2500rpm. that way the motor isnt strained at all and you can still get 20mpg doing it that way
In the town I live in there is a strictly enforced 25mph speed limit so I generally don't go above 4th gear, but if the opportunity presents itself I use 6th gear within lower speeds in an attempt to save gas.
I use 6th... I can float along easy on anything above 600rpm. I figure as long as Im not accelerating I'm probably using slightly more gas than when I'm idling.
