When I park my Z in the garage I like to leave the garage door ajar a foot or more to let the heat from the car escape to the outside.
A few weeks after I get my new black Z I go out to the garage and see a cat flee from my garage. I see cat paw prints on the hood and a scratch about 8 inches long. Obviously the scratch was the cat leaving the hood of my car when I went out to the garage. The cat is skiddish. You know MEOW!!

I showed my neighbor (who just happens to own a grey cat) the paw prints and scratch. I told her my brand new car was scratched by 'possibly' her grey cat that I saw leave my garage. She said "there is another grey cat around here". I haven't seen one.. but what ever!
Other neighbors say the same cat is in their yards and on their cars too. There are some really nice cars too but the cat 'got mine'.

The scratch was not too deep but it still needed a professional to buff it out. I had it buffed and now it looks fine.

I will appreciate your opinions on this.
What would you do?
What is right?

Choices are:
I keep garage door closed at all times no matter how hot it is. (that is what I have been doing) Doesn't seem fair though that I can't leave it cracked open for fear of the cat scratching my car.

Leave the garage door open. The neighbor should pay for future 'cat damage' to my car if it scratches it again and I can prove it.

The neighbor should keep her cat in.

wait till the cat is in our garage again and kill it , is damaging your property and the owners dont have control of it , its perfectly legal.

 

So that's what happened! The Z is good looking. Must be a great place for a cat to hang out!
I'm surprised he got a grip to scratch the hood and didn't just go sliding off.

I do love animals but not on my NEeeeeow car.

 

Drop the garage door and crush it. Accidents happen...

 

there are humane cat small animal cage traps, put it in the garage, use tuna, take the car 50 miles away and set it free (remove collar)

 

make a nice trap and catch the vermin...then torture him/her. 1 claw at a time..............mooOOOOOOOOOOOOOOoooooooooooooohahahahHHHH HHHHHHHHHHHHhahahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

 

Well, there are always ways to pick up a fight and resolve the issue (by first making things complicated). Or, else if you are like me, and would like to resolve the issue peacefully, here's what you cud do:

Make small holes/circles in your garage door to act as vents. You may want to improvise and provide flaps on the inside to close the holes anytime you want.

Little bit of work - but hey - this's the first thing that came to my mind!

Let's see if some one comes up with a less tedious alternative.

 

Catch it in a cage, show up at the your neighbors house with their cat in the cage. Tell them you caught their cat in your garage and now that you've proved it's their cat, you'd like to be compensated for your damages. If they dont, catch it again and do what you like.

The cat, and any damage done by the cat, is the responsibility of the owner. That said, you will find it difficult to prove that the damage was caused by the cat. Setting up some sort of video surveillance is extreme.

If you are paranoid about the cat, put a cover on the Z.

 

That'd work too. Just make sure no one from ur neighbors' house stops by at your place. Especially their kids. You might wanna stop entertaining any guests at your place either!

 

Too dayum hot here in the Desert to put a cover on a hot car. I did think of that and have a cover but that just holds the heat in on the car's paint etc..
Once it is cool then ok.

Killing the cat? Nah Can't do that.

One of my neighbors has wireless cameras. He offered it to me if I cared to use it. Feels like entrapment though.....
On the other hand I frigging love my new Z and don't want the cat scratching it again. I'm getting a clear bra put on next week.

Just saying....If the cat happened to get the opportunity to scratch my car again it might also scratch the $550 clear bra too. YIKES!
I told the cat owner (nicely) that I didn't want to knock on her door and show her more damage that she would be responsible for in the future. She said "What is your deductible amount on your insurance"??? I didn't answer her. Her question was disgusting!

 

Open up the hood to cool it quicker. I always do it. Cats like to sit on a warm surface.

 

You could always just shove a broom stick up it's @ss and use the cute little kittie to dust your Z off with.... :-)

Seriously though, they sell cat repellant in pet stores. Works pretty well.

 

I would kill that cat in a heart beat. Then you can take the dead cat to your neighbor and ask if its theirs.
