my report from AZ, sir
well after pats report about driving I almost feel silly posting this cause I only sat in the car, but here's what I saw:
It was a silverstone touring. I thought the color was great. It was definatly lighter than I thought It would be. (it was shaded under a canopy). I can't imagine how light the Cs must be
I was hoping I would get that fist sighting and say pictures don't do it justice. I don't think I can make that claim. The one exception if the view from upfront. The pictures do not show how low the car is to the ground or how the flare of the wheel wells juts out. it is truely awsome.
Inside the fit is perfect. I'M 6'3" with a 34" inseam. I had PLENTY of head room. the seats seam to wrap around me and snuggle me in much like a baby to a mothers boosum..ah..ah as I was saying the fit was right on. the Shifter was short and precise moving through the gears in park. as good as my BMW. I'm not sure what that means compared to realy driving through the gears but.. I got it into reverse three times without any problems. visiblility out the rear was a little diminished in the verticle plane but I don't think It will hamper anything, just take some getting used to. the seat controls were on the inside, electronic and the hight adjustment on the left side, manual knobe. the dummy petal was too small or to far over to the left for me to get my whole foot on but I was not uncomfortable with it.
Overall quality of the interior was fine. I don't think I would give it a second thought. It may not be the same as my BMW or Infinity but if it was not mentioned before I would not have noticed. (accually I think if It was too nice it may take away from the rest of the car) {the previous was NOT just a rationalization}.
Somebody did fit a standard size golf club in the trunk.
I had someone turn the car on, sounded good. I was inside and could hear alittle, not an overwelming roar. but she wasn't gunning the engine either.
the only MINOR complaints:
1 the navigation door is flimsy (preproduction)
2. the gas door is also very cheep flimsy plastis. (the door handles inside and out are very solid)
3 the lighter is in a bad spot for a radar detector.
All in All a truely AWSOME car. said withou experiancing the best part, the drive.

goofyZ, I agree with everything you said. The interior is industry average which is very good these days. Not Lexus, but not dodge either. The dead pedal is NOT large enough for people with big feet.
For a sports car this is one of the best for tall people. I know the car/roof is a little tall, but the headroom make it all worth while. We are seeing a trend towards taller cars in general and the Z pulls it off well.
I am a little dissapointed that silverstone is not that dark. I had hoped it would be gun metal grey (bmw) or seal grey (porsche). If I had to pick my color right now it would be blue (the car I saw was blue) that color is so vibrant. I am getting a silverstone Track and I guess it will blend in better, no need to give the cops another reason to notice my car.
The power outlet and nav door are the two weakest points/
What kind of BMW do you own? I used to own a Z3 that was the best stickshift I ever drove until the S2000 test drive.
BTW nice shirt, did you get that at a jimmy buffet yard sale?

I agree with rai,and not because he agreed with me. I like the silverstone but if I could pick again I would change to Blue.
I only have a 328i. I needed a sedan for my new born son. But now the wife has a QX4 so I get my Z
