i have found some information using the search tool but all of it seemed more like rumors rather than fact... im 21 and as much as i would like to, i do not have the money to purchase a 2007 or 2006 350z, so i am getting a used one.. the 05 sounds pretty safe, but then i here there are problems with the 04 and 03.. can some one clearify if these are big isues or minor bugs?? thanks..

The main issue with the '03's and some 04's was tire feathering and problems with the power windows going up and then part-way down again and some such things. If you're buying used, look for a car built towards the end of '04 (look at the sticker inside the door frame for the month of manufacture) or else an '05 or later.

'05+ Less problems, unless you buy a 6MT.

I have an 03'. Window regulator was fixed and never had another issue. Tire feathering...didn't care since I was going aftermarket anyway...however nissan had a fix for that too. Other than that.. 50k miles later and my baby is running strong.

have an '03. Had grease streaks on my windows and took it into the dealership and they fixed it for free. Other than that no problems at all. No tire feathering....Nothin'.

'05, purchased new, and the only problem i've had is the passenger window not rolling up. got that fixed, and now it rolls up and goes back down halfway, but only on hot days now i'm out of warranty and out of luck (64k miles), so i just deal with the window problem. hold the button when rolling up, and it's fine.

Yes. Check Consumer Reports reliability data.

New tires doesn't help. It's a suspension issue. Some people have (allegedly) gotten around it by getting new wheels. But the only sure way is to get the suspension fixed.

Your responses are very....ummm....interesting?
So, you have seen posts where people have gotten around the feathering issue by "getting new wheels"? I sure haven't.
Also, exactly how does one "fix" the suspension?
You seem to have a lot of knowledge about the Z. Please share in more detail.

+1 i love how people answer stuff when they dont know WTF theyre talking about.

feathering is hit or miss on 03/04's, the problem is pretty well remedied with good alignments and better than OEM tires. Surely doing a thread title search for feathering, streak, grind, click, etc will bring up reading material.

I love my 03 z. New alignment specs, and different tires, seem to have taken care of the feathering issue. I'm still keeping my fingers crossed.

Other than that, it has been extremely reliable and low maintenance.

feathering? if you can see/touch the car you can check it by running your hand along the inside edge of the front tires. but otherwise probably not.

it really isnt a huge deal with a good alignment and better tires than OEM.

I have tire feathering. I just noticed it after putting about 3.5k on my 03 350. The inside of the tire is not going to last as long as I'd hoped.

If I had to guess, I will need new fronts every 12-13k miles. I will look at remedying this with alignment or aftermarket suspension (which, for all I know, the previous owner may have done), but if neither of those work, I will just replace the fronts every 12k miles. I love this car to death, and I would not consider trading or selling. I have bonded with the car.

The tire problem is ingratiating. I would admit that to anyone who asked me about it. The thing is, I can get two Kumho ECSTA ASXs for $188 total. That really isn't **** to me. My main concerns revolve around safety.

With the rest of the drivetrain being apparently rock solid (in my car anyway) and the fact that I will baby it most of the time, I think I'm in for an enjoyable experiment.
