Keep the Civic and continue to save money. There will be more important things in your life during the next few years besides buying an expensive new car.

don't buy new. it's not worth it you can get one a year or 2 old for way cheaper , new cars lose their value to fast. you can pick up a couple year old car for a fraction of the price of a new one. thats my other than that find one of each to test drive and see which one works best for you I was dead set on an STI till I drove one, ****in hated it.

Personally, I would get the 2007 GTO. I hear they can be difficult to locate, but it will be worth your searching efforts.

Yes. It is a statistical fact that the less driving experience you have, the less likely it is that you will lose control of you vehicle and possibly wreck.
Less driving experience = better driver.
Just look at the insurance premiums based on age, they will back this statistic 110%.
Some states are considering lowering the driving age to 14 to help reduce accidents.
And "Sides", lmao.
UnF'inbelievable.

I could care less what the masses think. Because when I turned 16 I idnt want to go out and buy a girly civic either. I have been a car enthusiest since I could remember and my first car was respected and well taken care of. Not every teenager drives like an a$$hole. Lets give the kid an answer to his question, not generalize. I think that a civic is a waste of money, especially if you want to mod your car. I would say your best option is an EVO, Z or RSX type S. The EVO would provide you with a 4 door economical car with some *****. The braking is amazing as well. The Z is a bit more sophisticated but remember its 2 seater, maybe wait till your second car to pick up a Z. The RSX is well rounded and pretty nice inside, although is a front wheel drive car. The Z is the most expensive to MOD. Whatever you choose, please prove these guys wrong, respect the limits and capabilities of you driving skills and your car. Do your researcg before you start to MOD, you will save alot of time and money this way. Some of us had to figure that out the hard way. Goodluck

hey dude go with what you like the best when you test drive all these cars.

I'm 17 have a Z and I don't do to much stupid ****... You just have to control yourself and just think about what your doing and make a choice if this is worth getting arrested wrecking or losing your car..

I agree. There are so many incidents on the news of moronic teens, cough cough persians, crashing their cars and lowering the reputation of people like myself. I have received no tickets, no crashes, no curbs, no dents, nothing what so ever. I understand that I may not have driven as many miles as some of you mid-life crisis Z buyers, but there are sooooo many great young drivers out there. There is a 17 year old professional GT car racer. My friends are all between 17-19, and the only ones who are accual driving enthusiasts do not have any tickets, and no crashes. My brother has a 1000GSX-R and has no tickets on his bike, or when he had my Z (although he did have 2 tickets in a izusu and 1 in a tahoe).

+1 if you have 10 grand then goto a bank and get a loan for 10,000 and have your parents cosign that way you have 1/2 the car paid off from the bat rather than 1/3 if you buy new.

But yeah if your coming from a civic then get a WRX its AWD and it will be easier (not better at all but easier) to handle than the Z the Z is alot better looking and still has alot of power. But its more expensive to mod and it may be a bit too much for a new driver considering its RWD.

Keep the Civic, drive for a couple of more years or into the ground, whichever comes first. Put the the money in a CD or money market account, let it accrue interest, get something nice once your out of college.

I am Looking to buy the car new. Any opinions would be appreicated.
If you are really looking for advice about cars and life in general then my advice is to pay cash for your next/first car. If that means a used WRX so be it. The trick to get through life is to spend less than you make. A lot of people buy into all the materialism and spend way to much on their cars for their income. It is not just buying the car, but paying for gas and insurance and upkeep. One way to look at this is look at your fixed expenses and if they exceed say 60% of your income, then you need to cut back.
