Well I just got done having my engine bay put out with water because my car started on fire as I was driving it home. WOuld have been a great newspaper head line marines dieds before deployment due to burning to death in sports car.
Looks like the car was saved through. Lucky I was close enough to water or my car would be alot of burned metal and ashes.
What a ****ing day

you're real lucky you were able to get to water. after my car (i was borrowing my aunt's) caught on fire on I-5 over the grapevine i've carried a fire extinguisher in my cars ever since.
there was no explosion but it took a long time to burn through the almost full tank of gas i had.

no it was coming from the engine bay on the drivers side near the back of the header. I opened the hood and almost got my face burned off. Saved the hood though

Thats the first thing that crossed my mind. Do I try to stop the blaze or do I run because the car might blow

Did you recently change the oil or have it changed? I know too many people (self included) who have caught their engine bay on fire by leaving an oil rag on sitting on the exhaust manifold.
My excuse is that I'm absent minded as all get-out.
Anyway, engine fires are not cool and scary as ****. Glad you're okay. I totally opened this thread thinking you were trying to save children from the Griffith park fire in the Z and accidentally caught it on fire. Your story is cool, too.
