Sounds like the S2000 is the car for you. The Z isn't for everyone and I understand your need for a convertible. No hard feelings here.

Now if only the "chicks" would wave at you without the car.....

I have been in an S2000. At 6'3" I was shoe horned into the car and I would not be able to live with it. The Z has a lot or room for tall drivers.

I test drove a S2000 for a long drive like 30 min. It was the most fun car I ever drove. I think if there is a car that can stand up to the Z in the value catigory it is the S2000. I drove a Boxster S the day before driving the S2000 and I thought they should be priced the same. So for me the S2000 is really like a Boxster S for $20K less. I guess I will hear the Boxster loyalsts putting me down for that statement.

I think the Z is better for me because I do a lot of highway driving and the Z will be a more comfortable highway car. I used to own a Z3 and it was loud on the highway. Alos I am a tight fit in the S2000. But if you can live with that and I know you are really looking for yellow I think you have found your car. Good luck.

Hey get that S2000! Less Z's on the road! hehe...

Honestly, the S2000 is an awesome car - that's well known. I think it's all preference... if you didn't pre-order a Z you may be waiting a while because once these buggers start hitting the streets MSRP will be a year off. A test drive may be that long off too

Edmonds.com already has it @ 4k over MSRP.

If you love the Z deep down inside then be patient... I personally believe it will be a more comfortable car then the S2000 and I guarantee you it'll be a much stronger chick magnet.

Z is a lot more mascline... *cringe* FLAMEOFF: Doesn't really matter right?!

Oh and on the chicks waving at you comment without the car hahaa... guys chase fine tails... women profile sports cars and material possessions... sad but true! NOT ALL WOMEN!!! FLAME OFF FLAME OFF!!! Just the real fine ones! hehehe.. jk jk... sortah

It also comes down to the size of the driver as well. The S2K is smaller inside than a Miata. I simply don't fit in an S2K with the top up. I have to duck down to look out the side windows; not very safe. Forget about wearing a helmet! Otherwise, it's a great car for the right sized person.

I think this thread really goes and shows how mature the community of www.my350z.com is. In most other auto forums here on the internet, if someone mentions their interest in a car other then what brand the site is dedicated to they're met with fierce flames from the ingnorant brand loyalists. But here it seems everyone realizes a car is a car, and that everyone is different and it's okay for people out there to like cars other then what they themselves drive.

the yellow version is still avalible!? i thought honda discontinue it? anyways, i'm happy if honda didn't close that colour cuz it's the best colour for the s2k in my opinion, and i'm already a bit angry on the 2000 model when stupid honda discontinued the silverstone. so hope honda does something smarter next time

According to my friend (owns a silverstone S2000), they change paint every year, so while they may always have silver, it's a different shade or type of silver every year. So each particular color has only one year of production. And according to Honda.com, they still have the yellow version available.

Billy, enjoy your honda and give those beautiful Toronto women a kiss for us! You would have done us proud up in Canada with a Z! Maybe next time.

Bill, I bought the S2000 for almost the exact same reasons you did/will.

If the Z was out last April, it probably would have been a different decision as I am a much bigger Nissan fan than I am a Honda fan. However, I have been enjoying this awesome weather we have been having with my top down while others are still waiting patiently for their Z's. I truly feel for those guys.

Here are my impressions:

1) I will never not own a convertible in my stable of cars again. It adds so much to driving enjoyment when the weather is nice out, I couldn't believe it. Highly recommended to those who haven't owned one, you will probably love it.

2) The S2000 is a great deal of fun to drive, it's raw, frenetic and always demands your attention which is exactly the way I want my sports cars.

3) The Toronto area S2000 owners are truly a great bunch of guys, we're always organizing something, and most importantly share a love for all great cars. Please introduce yourself at our forum at www.s2ki.com under Clubs then Toronto area.

4) Spa yellow was only available for the 2001 model year in Canada. Only 50 were imported. If you are buying a used one, make sure you get the hardtop, because the spa yellow came from the factory with the hardtop. For 2003, brilliant white will be available with black interior up here.

5) Hopefully some of the 350Z owners will join us on future drives. I love that car.
