after test driving the 07 Z coupe and Zr
hello guys,
I just wanted to share how I felt after test driving
both 07 coupe and 07 Zr 6MT,,
the Z coupe was the Enthusiastic one and the Zr was the Touring with Navi..
I used to own 06 G35 6MT, and all I can say after testing driving both of them
is WOW
shifting was smoother than the G and cornering was way better..
but I gotta say that for some reason the 2007 Z sounded little quiter or weak than the G..and it even sounded like that it was quiter than the previous Z
anyways, the Z seemed to have more power and the acceleration was amazing..the guy who was sitting next to me allowed me to go crazy on the Z
lol..so yeah..I definetely felt the speed!
+please keep in mind that I'm not an expert about the cars so I won't be able to use all the fancy words about the car+
after test driving them, I totally fell in love with the Z,,especially with the
Z Roadster..(BTW my girlfriend totally hates it because it's soft top)
so now I have few questions for you experts and I really do hope that you guys would help me out here...
first of all,
do I really need both
Traction Control System (TCS)
Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) ???
does anybody regret getting Stock Navi?
is anybody more satisfied with their after market Navi?
if yes, which one?
how's the burnt orange leather with Ventilated Seatbacks?
any bad experiences?
I believe these are the questions that I'm really curious for now..

As i thought the TCS is not offered for the Base but is offered on all the other trim models.
"Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC)—M/T only on Touring" thats directly from the website. Which is a little confusing when the black circle is filled in on the GT. I really don't know if you need both, I haven't driven a Z with both so I don't know. I take off my VDC except in the rain and all you have to do is keep the led foot off the gas in the rain.
I'm really not understanding what your saying about the trim levels the only options you have if you want navi and leather seats is the touring and grand touring and the only difference between those is the Brembo Brakes, Bigger wheels, and spoiler which only offered on the GT.
If you want to get picky then yes a .01 difference in drag coefficient.

TCS prevents the rear wheels from over spinning when they're slipping, say from rain, oil, too much power, etc.
VDC prevents the entire car from spinning or sliding, for example doing a 360 degree turn during lost of control, etc.
As far as options, you should get leather and navi (grand touring coupe) if it's an option for you; the dash looks much cleaner with the OEM navi than after market units. As for performance, the coupe is lighter than the roaster, so performance is a bit better as a result. Plus, Z roasters are for girlie men JK

No Bad experiences for me, after having these seats for 3 yrs now it would be hard to switch to full leather in a 'vert. Seats really keep my back from feeling and looking like a damp sock.
As for the nav I personally don't have it in my zr, when I'm out and about driving I try to get lost.

I never knew it had ventilation. If you mean those perferated holes, well to me, they dont do much. On hot days when I first go in the car, my back feels very hot.
edit: nvm, yo are talking about the vert. I have no experience with those seats.

so I guess, if I'll want to go for a performance, I'd rather go with coupe, right?

As for what model you should buy heres a simple guide folllowed by many:
If you are going to buy a boat load of items like aftermarket rims 19" & 20", exhaust, springs, shocks, body kits, Headers, etc... Buy a base model coupe. People spend way to much on stock parts at a dealership and just eventually replace the parts.
If you want a setup already prepped by factory go with as much mods and accessories offered in a coupe.
If you love strictly cruising, sunsets, live in Cali, etc... buy a covertible.
And for the love of God never ever buy an automatic unless all your ever going to do is street drag race in staight lines and never will drive a curvy road. And want to be lazy in shifting like Honda drivers are.

Here is my .02 (but I have an '03 touring):
1) TCS is a part of VCD. You can't have VCD without TCS. Cars that come with TCS only (enthusiast, performance) have no VCD. But those with VCD (touring) have TCS automatically.
2) I don't have ventilated seats. I do love the way burnt orange looks though.
3) I use the factory navigation a lot because I tend to get lost in the worst areas. But, I think you can do a lot better for the same price with aftermarket. (Plus you cant use factory while driving which sucks, not that I'd do that anyway).
4) I love roadsters, but couldn't afford one when I purchased my Z. Women hate them. They're not as hardcore as a coupe (for some reason I don't quite get). But you live in LA, so why not?
5) I think it does make sense to mod an upgraded model. The things you'll most likely be changing (wheels, suspension, exhaust, intake, etc.) are not different as between a touring and a base. The exceptions being the LSD, the VDC (which you might end up just turning off), the Navi (if you get one) and the stereo. I've been perfectly happy with all of these things since I bought the car and most of the mods I plan on doing will have little or no effect on that stuff.
