Default Lock car without horn beeping

By accident today I figured out how to make the car lock and set the alarm without the horn beeping twice. Kinda nice when you get home late and don't want to wake up the neighorhood.
Anyways, if you're interested, hold the lock key on your remote, then while holding lock, push on the unlock, the lights should flash three times. Now when you lock your car, the lights flash twice and the horn doesn't honk. To turn the horn back on, do the same thing.

I thought this was in the Manual. Anyway, there's 2 reasons why I like this mode:

1. When you're leaving the car parked somewhere, not having the horn blow draws less attention, and

2. If you ever lost your keys, the person who found them could not go around the parking lot pressing the unlock button looking for the lights to blink and the horn to blow, making it harder to steal. This is a good reason NOT to use a Z keytag.

It is in the manual

I have had my car in silent mode since day one.

Pros: No annoying honk which draws attention to yourself and your car.
Cons: You have to watch for the lights to flash or you are never certain your car is locked. The Fob is flakey and the range is limited.

Ah well, it is nice not to **** your neighbours off by having your car honk at 2 AM ... after all they know where you live

Regards,
Kevin

If you don't want noticed, don't buy a Z.

Let's hope a blind man finds my keys then.

LOL!

Note to self: Do not try to use fob to open trunk while in car after getting home late and accidentally miss the "Open trunk" button but instead hit the "Alarm" button.

Inside a garage.

Owww. Yeah, it was REALLY loud.

Excellent, thanks!

I have to park next to someone else's house every morning and I hate the horn beeping. Gonna fix that tonight!

True, but what if that person uses the panic button on the keyfob?

That's some good info....

This what I used to do:

If I got home pretty late I would just leave the door open and press the lock button, then close the door.... No beeping...

BTW, do guys get 2 honks or 1? I only get one honk when locking and 0 honks when unlocking..... Do you guys get the same?

Same here. Only one honk when locking.

I bought a Z because I like the car. Whether people are going to notice or not does not determine what I buy. Ha! I outgrew that a long time ago. However, to unnecessarily draw attention to it for those who would try to steal it or want to key it out of envy or resentment is simply foolish.
