Default engine oil

On page 9-5 of the 350Z owner's manual, Nissan recommends mineral based (not synthetic) oil for the 350Z engine.

I'd prefer to use a synthetic after my 1200 mile break-in, but I'm hesitant after reading the manual.

Is anybody out there using Mobil One or some other synthetic??

many of us, (especially those who change their own oil) are using synthetic. There is no prohibition on that, Nissan simply hasn't made a recommendation beyond what they have tested.

They can only specify that the oil meet an API service code, unless they provide you (and all of us) with the oil to use- then they could require use of a particular oil for warranty purposes.

Someone who spoke with Redline indicated that they advised to change to synthetic at 3000 miles.

Personally, I went to a blend at 1300 miles and full synthetic at 2500.

You can change to Mobil 1 at anytime, no "break in" needed.
