Default have a few questions about going from an S14 to a 350z

im trying to decide whether i should go with a base 05-06 Z or an enthusiast 05-06 Z...i want the enthusiast mainly because of the TCS...i can do without the hid's because i can buy a conversion kit for about $200 and i was planning on upgrading the lsd regardless of which trim i went with and ive never used cruise control in my life...my major question is...will the TCS be that much of a difference if im comming from an S14? ive read that the only time the TCS would really come into play would be in the rain...i live in socal so it doesnt rain too often over here...would i be missing the TCS at all?

I guess you are trying to lean more towards the Base, so go for the Base.

i actually really want the enthusiast because i like all the extra features for a few grand more but theyre so hard to find over here in socal with my configuration (black 05-06 with less than 30,000 miles and under $22,000) and there are plenty of base ones out there for around that price or less...but like i said: my main thing is still on the TCS...will i miss it at all?

Buy the Enthusiast, you won't regret it. You'll appreciate the TCS when you least expect it. And there are other features with this model -- it's worth the upgrade.

Of course go with the enthusiast model, you'll be glad you didn't buy short.

The question is availability. You will find 10 other models for every Base. So a Base will be more difficult to locate.

I have a Base and I've never had an incident where the TCS would have come into play. I personally like not having anything to limit my power, this way I can just gun it whenever I want and I know the car is going to respond to my orders, not computer programed traction settings, lol. I live in South Florida with lots of rain and haven't had an accident. Just be careful and be aware of your surroundings.

IMo if Im buying a car, i dont mind springing the few extra bucks for a higher model. Then you have no regrets about having no options.
Thats just me though.
Honestly, i dont think you will miss much though.

drift,

Your right that the Enthusiast is best because of extra features for few extra bucks. But, it sounds like your a hands on car guy since you want to replace lights & LSD anyway. Given that you live in soCal, I don't think you will miss TCS all that much. It is preferable but not essential, imo, in your case.

I'd look for both Base & Entusiast & get best buy.

If you're going to throw in a lock-happy aftermarket LSD back there, you're not going to miss TCS.

Its funny how now and days everyone is worried about driving a rear wheel drive car in the rain and if they have a drivers aid program, when back in the day people were driving comparable corvettes and mustangs with no problem. I think being catious should be in your head when it rains more than anything, for your saftey and the saftey of others.

HAHA... Drive a Cobra with 4.10s and bald drag radials in the rain. Or the same Cobra, with the same 4.10s on a 75 mile commute in snow and ice, all the while cops servicing accident scenes are looking at you and scratching their heads as to how you made it in one piece, and you know you're capable of driving in harsh weather. That was a fun trip. So many fwd cars smashed into walls, mean while I'm cruising by putting ~300ish ft lbs to the tire.
