I didn't have a front plate when i had my z, drove for 2 years without one. I had a cop pull me over one time and warn me for it, i told him i just got my new v1 front lip and bumper repainted and they were making a custom braket for the license plate and he let me go.

May data is accurate as of December 31, 2006. I don't have the first quarter 2007 numbers.

VA law requires it, so I have it. Bought a nice, simple silver-chrome license-plate holder, and it looks fine.

Check your state law; if everyone around you has a front plate, you probably need to have one too.

I live in VA too. I have some pretty dark tinted windows, and live in an area where there is a bunch of old white people, so the cops don't bother me.

If the cops found out I was a young black guy, then it would be a different story.

Whats the lawbook say about putting the license plate on the dash? If the cop pulls you over, at least you have something to show. Just wondering...

So if California law requires a front plate, why are you even contemplating taking it off....?? Z = ticket collector as it is, without openly flouting the law. IMO.

Two months ago, a Department of Public Safety car drove in the opposite direction. As I drove by, he made a 180 and pulled behind my back. From the look of his eyes, I can see he was checking my plate. At the next green light, he drove 2 lanes to the right and went somewhere else because he found nothing on my record. I've driven through many speed traps, in front and in back of police cars, none has stop me for no front license plate- knock on wood. Main thing is do what is comfortable because it is illegal in most states and you can get pulled over.
+1 I've been also pulled over many times and the front plate was never an issue.

We need a front plate over here in NY. I was all set to buy a front bracket but the dealer drilled my bumper after I requested not to have that done.

I've never had a front license plate and I've never had any trouble with it besides a verbal warning on it. *knock on wood*

"put it on" doesn't necessarily mean "drill holes in your bumper" as there are many ways to secure the plate to the car w/o fuxing it up.

If I could I wouldn't have one, but I already got 1 ticket for it and I really don't want another one!

Z-Bracket ftw
