for a new Z? I'm undecided about coupe or roadster and all options...except I'll get an automatic 5 trans.

About 1,700 a month...think I can keep up with payments?

I guess you can afford it if you have absolutely no other bills. Your asking for trouble if you ever decide you want to do something responsible with your money (like buy a house or save) down the line though.

Check on insurance first, Young Jedi! Don't be married to your car/insurance payment!

Things tend to change quickly in life. Try to think about things long-term if you can. You might have to (or want to) live of base in a couple of years if you pick up rank. $1700 a month isn't really alot of money. If you do buy a Z try to save up for a large down payment to lower your monthly payment. This will give you more options as things change in your life. You can't predict everything in life, but you always want to leave yourself options.

Well, I plan to put about 20% down. I won't be getting it until Spring/Summer 2008 and I start saving in September...thats when I go to basic.

Should be about 7,000.

1700 per month? what is the term of your purchase? 4/5/6year loan? that is ridiculous. while you are looking and staring at your car out of the barracks (cause you are broke), you can also see your friends leaving the base to have fun.

Save up for a down payment and get a better deal.

Look, without even starting on your age... Your asking for trouble. After joining the military, you just don't realize how much control over your life you have just givin up. You might want to see how things pan out over your first year or so before you go buying a $30000 car on $1700 of income. Depending on your job and where you get stationed, you may not be around to drive it much anyway.

Where did you get $1,700 from? You have yet to go to basic so that means you will be going in as an E-1 maybe E-2 if you have some JROTC. Your recruiter has shafted you in your pay rate. If your lucky you'll be seeing $1,000 a month maybe a little more...

^^ still, save up your chips and put a fat down payment. At most, being that you are 18, you must be an E-2/E-3.

is that pretax (1700)? then you are going to probably take home about 1200.
