I am what you call a person who cares too much about his car .

I dont keep it off because of the performance. I dont notice the difference.
I do keep it off though cuz I rather have the windows open and fresh air and love the sound of the engine.
I never was a huge fan of AC.

I can feel a difference in performance absolutely, but I have the A/C on anytime I don't want to sweat, which is 90% of the time. I mean, why do you have to have 100% of the cars performance at all times and sacrifice comfort. Maybe it's just me, but I don't drive the Z like I'm in the F&F, maybe that's why my tires last 20K+ miles...
If I do run with windows down, I at least have them half way down with a tint.
+1 on there being no difference in gas consumption, it was in Car & Driver two months ago also.

93 and humid...AC on and (tinted) windows up. I would be soaked if I didn't have the AC on during summer here by the big river. Don't get me wrong, when its nice and cool outside the windows are down on anything but highways, wind noise is killer in the Z at highway speeds.

the more noise created by the wind means more drag...more drag means higher drag coefficient of drag...high coefficient of drag means harder to move thru the wind...harder to move thru the wind means not so much fun....cuz I like my car flowing thru the wind, NOT fighting the wind...
so...if you want to have fun in your car and have tip top performance and handling, drive with windows up, moonroof closed, don't install moonroof deflector or wind deflectors...keep the line of the car, don't break it...

My other car is a 66 Mustang GT with 300 HP no power steering- no power breaks- and NO air conditioning. 4 years strong in south Fla now... I never turn it on in the Z unless I'm cruzin' slow to work.
