Default Tire feathering anyone

Tire feathering anyone. My favorite subject. Here' s what I think: it has NOT been fixed although many no longer have the problem by changing to tires with less stiff side walls and getting the alignment set to the updated toe +/-. I find this +/- spec to be BS as this exceeds any alignment machine's spec or accuracy. The stiffer inside tread blocks on the updated Bridgestones only reduce the rate of feathering. Too little toe and you get feathering, too much toe and you get cupping.

Also, if Nissan fixed the tire wear problem what did they change. I can't find any
info on updated suspension parts.

As for the 4.5 and softer Euro suspension- how do you increase rear spring rate 100lbs and soften the ride. You have to soften the shocks. I haven't seen any info on shock updates. The spring rate charts I have seen do not differentiate C vs. R. Would they have the same rate?

Would someone from Nissan parts department to do some part number look up and get it into the FAQ?

The "fix" was to properly align the toe on the front end. Nothing more than that.

thanks "350Zenophile". I'll wait for the 19"s to do the alignment.

You should get the alignment now. Your car does not know whether it has 17's, 18's or 19's.

There are no recalls on transmissions. If you have a defective one, they replace it with the new one.

Any difference between the T and the M, with the 04.5?

So all Z production wasn't moved from Oppama to the Tochigi plant for 04.5? That’s what I thought was one of the main differences. I was wrong.

Thanks Dave

only difference in a 04.5 is tat it was made in the takigi plant when they swtched half way in the year and the takigi plant build the Z's with the 05 specs, so the tire feathering and little stuff like that are fixed

Tire feathering can be fixed by just getting a tired alignment right? If not, is it really that big a deal? I'm looking at an 04 right now, it has knee pads, but I know it's not a 04.5....is it that big of a deal to just get an 04? This thread is scaring me.

04 350z Touring with 18K mi on it, btw.

Yes, the "fix" for feathering was to get and keep it in proper alignment.

hers an example:

E24T155443 would be 04 cause of the T15
E24T165443 would be 04.5 - T16
E24M155443 would also be 04.5 - cause of the M (new plant) like mentioned above

That doesn't appear to be a valid VIN number.
